Consensus seems to be that the “stars” who were set to enter the portal have likely already done so due to Monday’s deadline on NIL/collectives as part of NCCA court case. Yes, there will be some guys enter after Monday, but it’s not expected that we’ll see guys that move the needle enter the portal beyond this weekend.
With that being said, here are my questions -
1)- looking at who UK is set to return, how many starters does UK still need? To me, Oweh is the only guy returning that looks/feels like a starter for team with Final 4 aspirations.
2)- of the guys we’re still linked with in the portal - if Pope lands his top guys, could UK have a roster talented enough to compete for a championship? That is the goal, and that’s what every UK roster should be measured against.
Regardless, as of today, I’m not seeing a scenario where next year’s team is as talented as Pope’s first squad in Lexington.
