On TOS, there is a free article that breaks down the performance of the top seven UK players in either a win or a loss. I am assuming, since it is free, I can post some of the info here. Here is the info:

Tyler Ulis
13 wins: 32.5 mins, 13.0 pts, 3.3 rebs, 5.4 assts, 1.8 TOs, 1.2 fouls, 42.6% FGs, 31.4% 3PFGs, 84.4% FTs
4 losses: 39.2 mins, 15.0 pts, 3.7 rebs, 6.7 assts, 2.0 TOs, 2.2 fouls, 31.5% FGs, 19% 3PFGs, 95.2% FTs

Jamal Murray
13 wins: 33.3 mins, 16.2 pts, 4.4 rebs, 3.0 assts, 3.2 TOs, 2.1 fouls, 40.8 FGs, 33.3% 3PFGs, 77.5% FTs
4 losses: 35.2 mins, 22.7 pts, 3.7 rebs, 1.0 assts, 2.2 TOs, 3.2 fouls, 44.8% FGs, 51.4% 3PFGs, 60% FTs

Isaiah Briscoe
13 wins: 26.8 mins, 9.5 pts, 4.7 rebs, 2.6 assts, 1.9 TOs, 2.3 fouls, 51.4% FGs, 17.6% 3PFGs, 31.4% FTs
4 losses: 30.7 mins, 9.0 pts, 4.2 rebs, 2.2 assts, 2.5 TOs, 3.5 fouls, 35.1% FGs, 20% 3PFGs, 39.1% FTs

Alex Poythress
13 wins: 24.6 mins, 11.0 pts, 7.5 rebs, 3.3 fouls, 61.9% FGs, 0% 3PFGs, 69.6% FTs
4 losses: 23.0 mins, 5.0 pts, 4.7 rebs, 4.0 fouls, 38.8% FGs, 33.3% 3PFGs, 50% FTs

Marcus Lee
13 wins:
24.5 mins, 8.7 points, 7.9 rebs, 2.0 blks, 2.8 fouls, 67.5% FGs, 30.3% FTs
4 losses: 14.5 mins, 4.2 points, 4.2 rebs, 1.0 blks, 3.5 fouls, 46.1% FGs, 71.4% FTs

Skal Labissiere
13 wins: 18.6 mins, 8.9 pts, 3.4 rebs, 1.6 blks, 1.3 TOs, 3.2 fouls, 55.1% FGs, 71.4% FTs
4 losses: 15.2 mins, 3.7 pts, 2.5 rebs, 1.2 blks, 0.7 TOs, 2.5 fouls, 37.5% FGs, 75% FTs

Derek Willis
13 wins: 12.0 mins, 4.9 pts, 1.7 rebs, 0.9 fouls, 48.8% FGs, 41.3% 3PFGs, 100% FTs
4 losses: 16.0 mins, 7.2 pts, 5.2 rebs, 2.5 fouls, 41.6% FGs, 38.4% 3PFGs, 100% FTs

Now, what they didn't do, is analyze these numbers, which I would imagine is more important than just providing the numbers. In any case, I wanted to throw this out there for others to comment on.

Here are my two cents:
  • Ulis – gets more minutes, which is not surprising because I think Cal wants him out there when things are going bad. Probably doesn’t trust anyone else to lead us back and is probably correct in that assumption. However, shooting percentages go down (with the exception of FTs). Overall, relatively consistent performance.
  • Murray – gets more minutes in losses, scores more points, actually shoots better but fewer assists. It appears that, in losses, he tries to “take over” the scoring because most others are not stepping up to do so. Probably gets tired working so hard, which is why his FT percentage might be down. Overall, we need other consistent scorers, or we don’t win. Not earth-shattering news here.
  • Briscoe – had more minutes but produced less, from an offensive standpoint, with those minutes. I am assuming he is in the game for his defense. FT percentage is atrocious. More TOs and more fouls, as well, in losses. Someone else will have to weigh in on whether the lack of offense for defense is a good trade.
  • Poythress – Similar minutes but about half of the production, offensively. Again, I am assuming that he is in the game for his defensive contribution. If we get very little out of him, offensively, games generally go bad for us.
  • Lee – Significantly fewer minutes in losses with a commensurate reduction in offensive production. Strangely, FG percentage goes down in losses while FT percentage more than doubles. Like Poythress, he has to produce more when he is in.
  • Labissiere – Less minutes, significant reduction in production. Unless his defense is superb, he does not warrant being played in close games. I hope he changes my mind (and I know he is trying to) but that is the situation at this point.
  • Willis – 25% more minutes in losses (probably taking some of Lee’s and Labissiere’s minutes) 47% increase in scoring, huge increase in rebounding with worse shooting percentages (slightly worse, with regards to 3PT). If he can improve his defense, he deserves more minutes.

Interested in hearing other views based on this info. Thanks.

Interesting stats. The biggest difference that I see is the significant drop off in points by our 3 big men. They score 16 points less in the losses compared to wins. Those 16 points could've made a big difference in 2 or 3 of our losses.
