Looked like a very average team tonight

I would rather drop a road game at Clemson than the neutral court game against Duke. It will look better on selection Sunday. Now we see if Pope can work out the kinks. People are covering us up like a blanket on the perimeter. He’s going to need to figure out how to play teams that slow it down and play bully ball because if we aren’t running up and down shooting threes, we look pretty ordinary.

Have a great day.
Don’t listen to that guy. His whole existence on here is to nag people for having different opinions than his. I think the basketball IQ argument is the same as mine in not having a guy who can make a play late. Kentucky is relying on a system to get guys open, which it does but those said guys have to make a play at the end and tonight and tonight they didn’t. That’s the concern for the rest of the year and why I agree sweet 16 or first weekend feels like this teams max ability.

Anyone check out Arkansas/Miami before our game?
The crowd at Clemson was on an entirely different level than the one at Miami.
We had the toughest draw of anyone in the SEC that played tonight

STFU, it's one game and you already having us lose the first weekend? Did you see how many top 25 teams lost last week? You people are ins

Thanks, that dude doesn't bother me. I wasn't taking shots at the team, I really like this team and the approach that Pope is taking. We have some obvious holes that Pope will have to fix/fill. Should be an interesting winter. Glad we have Pope though. Real breath of fresh air.

100 percent this. Robinson has to be better or else games like this will become more normal.

Robinson was not the issue last night. Held his own on defense, created his shot in a few key moments, and hustled all night. It's the rogue black holes we need to tighten up asap.
Robinson has to give you more than shooting 5/13 from the floor a lot of nights, he just does.

Not upset at all. Free throw shooting was poor. Shot terrible from 3 In a very tough road environment. Got nothing from Carr or Krissa and lost by 4. Having watched the Arkansas Miami game before the cats game, I will take Pope and this Cats team all day long. It is a pleasure to watch the Cats again even when they lose.

I would rather have had a win than the highest draw ,that Arkansas game might be tougher than i previously thoughtas well.

Most teams do look average in a loss. This team was never going to go undefeated, no team will. They played a bad game in a tough road environment, this is still a top team

Arkansas shot 11-23 from three and beat a 3-5 team by three.
I feel good about our chances in that game.
Miami is just not a CBB town as the game atmosphere was more like a neutral court game than a road game.
I have no doubt in my mind that Arkansas would have been beaten by double digits at Clemson last night.

It's average talent. It's a lot of 3rd and 4th options from former power programs, or great players from mid-major teams.

I actually think last nights game was also proof that Pope is a legit coach. Last year he got a bunch of Mormons to a 6th seed.. last night he almost takes out a soon-to-be top25 Clemson, on the road, with the typical BS whistle UK gets, and with our PG only playing half the game, and a team that's just... eh? meh? We have no go to scoring threat, no one who can create their own shot, seems we lack a good deal of athleticism, speed, and length.

I can't wait to see what he can do with some talent next year.. but this year might be bumpy. I actually wouldn't be shocked if we're a 6 or 7 seed (mostly due to SEC play) and we bow out in the 2nd round. I don't think this teams talent is all that great and I think it's clear that we're not only missing a #1 option, but possibly a #2 option.. This team is a bunch of 3's and 4s. Great fundamentals, great experience.. but not really seeing guys who can take over games. It reminds me of many of the really good mid-majors Cal would face (Like a Wofford or a Wichita St), who are very good, but just not much of a match, in the end, for our talent and athleticism.

You can’t be an unathletic veteran team of seniors that misses FTs and wide open 3s all game and win on the road. Not happening. We had at least 15 wide ass open 3s. No excuse to miss those. We played like ass.

Clemson is not good, the ACC blows and the Cats have looked like trash most of the last three games.

Definitely reasons to be very concerned.
agree, don't think Clemson is that good, and only Duke & UNC are very good in the ACC.
The last 3 games, the players have not come out playing with the "urgency" that they should.
Maybe they have been reading the headlines in the papers.........what ever the problem, they need to
return to form. Being dominated in rebounding is nothing but lack of effort, especially allowing one guy to get 20.

FT shooting has been a concern of mine from day one. You can get away with it against the cupcakes, but 11 out of 18 will not get it done on the road.

we didn't get outrebounded. Both teams got 44 rebounds. We were outrebounded in the first half by 10 but outrebounded them in the second half by 10.
One of their players had 20 rebounds. Seems like we did not box out very well.

Clemson coaching staff late in game told the players to let Oweh shoot thats why he was open by 20 ft on those bricks . Pope didnt adjust got punkled . No Chandler for some stupid reason also . Pope must improve by Saturday to avoid a beatdown by a real team unlike last night

That's a different argument than saying we were outrebounded which is completely false. That one player was allowed to muscle, push, and go over the back all game. How many times have you ever seen someone get 20 boards and have 0 fouls called on them? To get 20 rebounds, you have to be aggressive and being aggressive leads to fouls. It wasn't the reason we lost but it certainly allowed him to pad those numbers. He also was one for however many from the field which allowed him to pad that stat line as well. If you want to say that we should have done a better job on him, then that is a fair statement. Saying we were outrebounded isn't just not fair, it is completely false.

Since the early 90's when I started becoming a huge basketball fan and a UK die hard, I've noticed teams, good ranked teams lose their first road game against a good opponent. Those games usually have the home teams conf officials and almost always get the calls . Its just hard to win on the road and a lot of times teams need to get that kick to the teeth to show them just how hard they have to play all game if they want a road win.

This is a team where everyone outside of Robinson is still learning the system. Its a miracle they were 7-0 .

We had the same amount of rebounds, I believe

We've sucked since WKU. But, the players still aren't trusting the offense 100 percent.

Pope with actual talent will be dangerous, yes.

Clemson is 22nd in Kenpom and returned 4 Major rotation guys from an E8 team. We played them to 2pts (before the final desperation foul under 2 secs) with a bad shooting performance at the line and from 3 before the They will likely also beat Duke and/or UNC at home once this season as well.

#1 Kansas loss to the 44th Kenpom ranked team by 13 and was down 17 under 3 min.

CBB on the road is hard.

No excuse we just got out play tonight. Got out rebounded and just played a good team.
Rebounds were tied at 44. It didn’t feel that way bc we gave up so many offensive boards in the first half…but we actually held even on the boards. 60% from the line and 25% from 3 beat us….and we didn’t live by/die by the 3. Clemson shot more than we did and only hit 1 fluke banked in at the buzzed by a big man more than us
