He also had some off field issues and had been suspended prior to hitting the portal. I’m not feeling like this is any huge miss for us.Listed as a junior this and has 9 career tackles? You people get too caught up on high school rankings, once they have been out for a couple years and haven’t produced in college then they are a miss - happens a lot with football players.
Could be but Koht was a 5-star recruit in the 2021 On300. 5 Stars are rarely a bust, and most go on to the play in the NFL. That's why I thought this was really big news. Not sure why his PT hasn't been more but as we know Bama brings in huge classes every year so spots can get a bit crowded there.Listed as a junior this and has 9 career tackles? So was Brock.. 🥱Could be but Koht was a 5-star recruit in the 2021 On300. 5 Stars are rarely a bust, and most go on to the play in the NFL. That's why I thought this was really big news. Brock had one year in a questionable system with not a lot of help. I think he still could turn out to be a good college QB, but not every 5 star turns out to iive up to their ranking. So was Brock.. 🥱
Did UK offer? Not that I'm aware of. How can this be a "miss" if UK never offered??He also had some off field issues and had been suspended prior to hitting the portal. I’m not feeling like this is any huge miss for us.
The Stoops Effect.. we’re just getting started bro….Our SEC brethren are dinning on filet mignon while we scratch for crumbs on the floor.
Agree. They are in the portal for a reason. Sometimes that reason is not a good one.Listed as a junior this and has 9 career tackles? Not that I know of. I probably worded that poorly, but I said that in contrast to the implication of the first couple of posts that this guy is going to be a stud at Vanderbilt and that it was an somehow an indictment of our coaching staff that he’s going there. Maybe what I should have said is that I don’t think we’re missing out by not being involved with him.Did UK offer? Not that I'm aware of. How can this be a "miss" if UK never offered??

If so I heard nothing about it. There has to be some level of mutual interest before you get into offers.Did UK offer? Not that I'm aware of. How can this be a "miss" if UK never offered??
Seem to be getting away from the TN, Bame, Ohio St rejects and more to the G5 contributors. Better plan? We'll find out in time.If so I heard nothing about it. There has to be some level of mutual interest before you get into offers.
From what I have seen so far we aren't really going after the same type of payers we have in the past because it's obvious UK isn't exactly a popular destination right now. That's the larger point.

There are a ton of guys like this out in the market. The reality is Vandy has to take chances. Maybe they get lucky and he fits like a glove. The odds of him being a 5 star next year pretty low. The odds of him being solid contributor are much better.Listed as a junior this and has 9 career tackles? You people get too caught up on high school rankings, once they have been out for a couple years and haven’t produced in college then they are a miss - happens a lot with football players.

LAST OFFSEASON.We took two 5 stars from the portal from Georgia just last offseason.
Just a metaphor.Certainly, five stars are five stars for a reason, but you called this kid filet mignon. Are you just relying on his HS ranking for that description or do you believe he has shown that in college?

I saw Koht play at least 10X over his high school career. He was the 2nd best DE I have ever seen at that level, only surpassed by Chris Slade, who played (IIRC) 9 NFL seasons. Koht was a wrecking machine at DE who couldn't be blocked one on one. His weight in high school was listed at 215-220 but seeing him up close I would have guessed 200-205. My only question(s) about him were if he could add the weight to stay at DE, and if not, could he adjust to playing LB? After four years of sparse playing time at Bama, the answer is apparently a resounding NO on both questions. On top of that, you have to question his intelligence after his social media "exchange" with DeBoer's daughter, who is a freshman softball player at Washington, which is probably the biggest reason he is leaving Bama, because when I heard about that exchange, I checked his bio on the school's athletics website roster and he had already been scrubbed from it. Will he play more at Vandy? I don't see how he could play any less than he did at Bama.Could be but Koht was a 5-star recruit in the 2021 On300. 5 Stars are rarely a bust, and most go on to the play in the NFL. You mean like the 5 star QB we paid a ton of NIL money even though he had NEVER PRODUCED in college?Listed as a junior this and has 9 career tackles? OP said 5*s were rarely a bust.. Maybe so at other schools but if they come to UK they rarely aren't busts 🤣So was Elam
To be fair, only 247 had Elam as a 5 star. He was a 3 star at Rivals. A friend who had seen Elam play told me what we'd be getting. Based on his evaluation, I'd say that Elam met or maybe even exceeded my expectations. So was Elam
The guy was a 5 Star on On3. Do you know how many 5 stars there are every year? About 25, the vast majority of which become high level or elite players at the college level. That's what I based the comment on. If you want to know more about this guy do your own research.Clearly. Founded upon what?
Why not a stud at BamaNot that I know of.
