Things are busy down here at The Advocate this Pelicans/Anthony Davis beat, but I got to spend some one-on-one time with AD today to talk to him for a story that's running on Thanksgiving day about the work his charitable organization is doing in New Orleans and why it's important to him.
It was really good stuff, and it included him talking about Calipari stressing to his Kentucky teams what their presence can mean to people. He remembered loading up in a van and going door-to-door with his teammates to drop off Christmas presents to less fortunate families in Lexington and said that not only was it a great bonding activity, but it meant a lot to him personally to have the experience.
I also asked him at the end about Cal saying Davis had texted him about this 2016 recruiting class, and AD confirmed it. Said he texted Cal that he didn't want to hear about their greatness "until they win some jewelry."
