Lipscomb Coach Lennie Acuff on Kentucky Offense

And they're still getting used to each other.

Pope's guys are averaging 94 per game right now. Last year's UK team averaged 89/game. I know it's early, but I think these guys will be close to last year's scoring average when it's all said and done.

This team is lethal offensively.
I'm enjoying it. I'm sure we're gonna have a game where we get our crap kicked in during conference play but let's just see how far we can go!

Just for reference, at this point in the season we are more efficient on offense compared to last year. On this date last year we were scoring 1.16 points per possession and right now we're at 1.18. Both numbers are adjusted for opponents. By the end of the year last year we ended up at 1.22 points per possession.

I don’t see any reason why this team shouldn’t be in every game honestly.
I agree. I just know Auburn is damn good. Bama will be good if they figure it out. And we know road games are always hard in this conference.

We shouldn't get destroyed or anything, but there might be some really tough games coming up. Hell, Zaga is looking better than expected.

I can definitely see us having a bad game I just don’t believe with this staff and team that any game will be like we just get plowed by 30 with no shot. I just think we are too efficient and play defense well enough to keep us in every game.

I agree. We're just all on a well deserved high right now and just don't want people to panic when we lose one.

Obviously we will lose a couple this year, we always do. Everyone should expect that. I mean the SEC alone is gonna be tough. As long as we stay around 6 losses or so we will be in great shape. That would be 2-3 OOC losses which is the max I can see and about 3-4 in the league.

They appear to be better than average defensively as well.

Nobody should panic at all. Tough conference, tough road environments. They will lose some (maybe), but this team is legit. We are waxing teams. Duke is as good defensively as I've probably ever seen them....still managed to produce in that environment.

This team has so many weapons.

I'm glad to see that we're more than just jacking up 3s. I was a bit worried in the first half of the Duke game.

We're answering questions slowly but surely.

The biggest ones left:

1) Can we win another big game (i.e. Zaga) and build consistency against T15 teams?
2) How will we fare in conference play? (a little ways off)

But as I'm sticking to it this season: ONE GAME AT A TIME.

Yeah, I think Gonzaga is really good, and pretty deep too. I actually think Gonzaga looks better than Kansas, and Kansas is ranked #1. To beat Gonzaga out there on the West Coast would be huge, but darn if I don't think UK can.

I agree and it’s not like we will play many teams better all year.

All this talk about offense, but this team is quietly making strides on the defensive end. This team can easily become one of the best defenses in the country by the time the tournament comes around. UK is a balanced team and not just a one trick pony.
This is what I'm seeing to and am getting more impressed with all the time. With Pope everyone seems to talk about offense all the time but the guy can coach defense and rebounding and this team is improving in both those areas. It shows from game 1 to game 4 and is very promising.

Yep was just thinking we’re scoring at a high clip and to me haven’t looked totally smooth yet. Almost grinding a little and haven’t yet hit our full motion yet
