A few stick out to me: The Ground Round (on Southland Dr.) Wing's Tea House (in Gardenside. that one is VERY old school), and Lexitalia (pretty much a given that it was Mafia owned/connected)

Damn, forgot an icon: Burger Broil on Harrodsburg Rd. near Rosemont

Feel free to include dive bars as well.

Survivors was a "place of note' LOL I spent a fair amount of time there. The desperation in that place was "palpable" LOL

- Lums Hotdogs Regency Rd
- Nelly Kellys in Lansdowne Shoppes.
- Kings Table on Regency Rd
- Steak and Ale
- Shakey's Pizza
- Clara's in Chevy Chase
- Stanley Demos on Broadway
- Max and Ermas Richmond Rd
- Irelands on Southland Drive
- Roger's Restaurant off Broadway by the railroad track.
- cork and Cleaver Richmond Rd
- TW lees Richmond Rd

I'd completely forgotten about Kings Table. LOL

There used to be a Pasquales Pizza on Southland Dr. that was great.

I read a while back that a company bought the Steak and Ale brand and they're going to try and bring them back.

Oh and Governors Table in Lansdowne Shopppes. It burned to the ground. The fire gutted Begley Drug store across the "hall". It was rebuilt as Nellie Kellys. Today it's Malones

I remember the Wing's Tea House in Gardenside. It was my Dad's favorite place to go.

Buffalo and Dad's was on N. Broadway, on the left, right after you crossed Loudon Ave.

Which reminds me, Loudon Square Buffet. LOL People knocked it, but Max put out a good spread.

My favorite places when I lived in Lexington, which has the best neighborhood bars and home cooking. Not sure if some of these are still open:

Winners Spirits and Foods- Worked there through college when they first opened. Good times.

Friends and Company
Spuds
Caddyshack
Barry T‘s- best Reuben on sourdough!
Lexington City Brewery- Spinach/artickoke dip and hot brown pizza was excellent!

At two different points in my life, I lived within short walking distance to one of those two. I'm afraid to admit how much time I spent in those two establishments.

Friends and Co. w/o a doubt, made the strongest drinks East of the Mississippi. LOL YEARS ago, when they did a brisk lunch business, they had a "Stockyard burger" that was, IIRC a 16 ounce hamburger. (The place might have been named something else at the time, but it was in that location.)

That was the great thing about neighborhood bars back in the day, drinks were always well made. In my short stint as a bartender at Winners, people either loved or hated me because I made them so strong. That’s why I belonged in the kitchen as a cook lol

My Friend's and Co. era, which I refer to as "the dark times" I was recently divorced, and living in Creekside Apartments, RIGHT NEXT TO IT. LOL I could have thrown a nickel from my balcony and hit the front door.

Speaking of that area, there used to be a place, back in the 70's/early 80's on Lane Allen called Leo's Oyster Shack (later became Detroit's Coney Island) that had ridiculously good chowder.

Winners was a non stop party. We had an oversized cooler in the back stockroom while we cooked, most everyone had a tobacco chaw or dip while we cooked and drank. On my 21st birthday I sat at the bar and did shots (while I’d been drinking for years anyway). When it was your birthday, get ready, the shots flowed. Then we went to Camelot East, where the guy looked at my id and double checked me, because he knew I’d been going in there for years too. We ended up getting escorted out the back door by the end of the night.

A lot of time spent at Applebees Long Island Tea Tuesday, then walking over to Camelot after.

Winner's on Southland Dr.? Where Winchell's is now? Lord, I spent some money in that place too.

Don't know if they still have them, but Winchell's used to have the hottest wings in Lexington. They would actually try to talk you out of ordering them.
Yep, that’s the place. Winchells is actually a spin off from Caddyshacks. The caddyshack owner was Ken, awesome guy! I think it’s his son that owns Winchells now. The caddyshacks food was excellent! Looking at the Winchells menu, it looks similar. If I can get back to Lexington, it’s a first stop.
