That was the first place I thought of. I loved the chili, Chili dogs and fries. Their fries put McDonalds to shame.Damn, forgot an icon: Burger Broil on Harrodsburg Rd. near Rosemont

Watched the 92 UK/Duke game there. Never went back ...Really a bar not a restaurant but their chili was pretty good.

Sounds familiar but can't place the location. Is Buffalo and Dad's still open?
Mr Steak next to McDonalds--when that McDonalds had a basementKelly's Jug Milk on Southland Dr. made the best milkshake in the world, and that's the truth.
Was sad to see The Ketch (on Regency) go. I loved that place.
The Fifth Quarter steak house...

At two different points in my life, I lived within short walking distance to one of those two. I'm afraid to admit how much time I spent in those two establishments.Friends and Company
Spuds
That was the great thing about neighborhood bars back in the day, drinks were always well made. In my short stint as a bartender at Winners, people either loved or hated me because I made them so strong. That’s why I belonged in the kitchen as a cook lolAt two different points in my life, I lived within short walking distance to one of those two. Friends and Co. w/o a doubt, made the strongest drinks East of the Mississippi. LOL YEARS ago, when they did a brisk lunch business, they had a "Stockyard burger" that was, IIRC a 16 ounce hamburger. (The place might have been named something else at the time, but it was in that location.)
Is that Park Hill?Spuds used to have two for one well drinks for Happy Hour. It got so bad that when they saw me come in, two Greyhounds were waiting for me at the bar. LOL
Winners was a non stop party. We had an oversized cooler in the back stockroom while we cooked, most everyone had a tobacco chaw or dip while we cooked and drank. On my 21st birthday I sat at the bar and did shots (while I’d been drinking for years anyway). When it was your birthday, get ready, the shots flowed. Then we went to Camelot East, where the guy looked at my id and double checked me, because he knew I’d been going in there for years too. We ended up getting escorted out the back door by the end of the night. My Friend's and Co. era, which I refer to as "the dark times" I was recently divorced, and living in Creekside Apartments, RIGHT NEXT TO IT. LOL I could have thrown a nickel from my balcony and hit the front door.
I know The Bristol Bar and Grille on Hurstborne Pkwy, but didn't Lexington have one back in the day?
Yep, that’s the place. Winchells is actually a spin off from Caddyshacks. The caddyshack owner was Ken, awesome guy! I think it’s his son that owns Winchells now. The caddyshacks food was excellent! Looking at the Winchells menu, it looks similar. If I can get back to Lexington, it’s a first stop.Winner's on Southland Dr.? Where Winchell's is now? Lord, I spent some money in that place too.
Don't know if they still have them, but Winchell's used to have the hottest wings in Lexington. They would actually try to talk you out of ordering them.
