Levis on playing in UK's bowl

They will put UK in a much better bowl if we win tomorrow. Likely against an opponent a tier or two above us in the wins column like they usually do. I think we get a 2nd place ACC, OR Big10 school again.

We will have our most difficult game against Malik and the red pigeons this time. He's 0 for 3 against us and it hasn't been close those 3 years. We play down to competition this year. Our OL is still having a hard time, (though they played better last week), and we haven't fared consistently well against QBs we've played and beaten at least 2 of the last 4 years.

I guess we'll see. I think we should win, but this year has proven me wrong several times already.

I want to see CRod over 200yds like he should've been against Vandy, UT, and Ole Miss. Would love it if we stomped them.

Why would he stop running the ball as his stock went up? Allen, Hurts, mahomes all run the ball and they are killing it. If anything running the ball will help his stock. I think they didn’t want to get him hurt and then he did get hurt.
I think he was advised not to run as much and ironically making him a stationary target is what got him hurt.

The coaches hope the next QB isn't on the roster. But who knows. It's not like a draft, it's free agency. We could fail talking anyone in joining the shyt show. We could get another Joey Gatewood. It's ridiculous we have not groomed a backup just in case.
Our lack of recruiting and development with QBs during the Stoops era has been mind boggling. You realize in the 10 years of Stoops, this staff has only convinced 1 SEC starting level QB to come to UK and that was Drew Baker. Levis was brought in by Coen, Stoops had never seen or heard of Levis before he came to UK.

Now to Stoops credit he hired Coen to bring someone like Levis in and now has hired Rich to bring in our next QB. The portal is fools gold, imagine how happy SC was when they landed the #1 portal QB last year Rattler, and then he was terrible all year until the TN game. That’s the #1 guy and UK doesn’t have the juice to get the #1 guy so imagine the gamble we’re taking.

With these expected coaching changes we need to really prioritize recruiters. We have lost several good recruiters the last couple years and haven’t really replaced them.

I agree about QB recruiting but unfortunately our time now passed. Nil will make it nearly impossible to recruit a high level D1 recruit. The portal will be our best hope for the foreseeable future.

It's another reason why we need the NFL oc pipeline to continue, because it's a major draw for misused or talented qbs in a bad fit. Especially after Levis skyrocket to the top of draft boards, we will have our pick come portal time

If USCj can land the #1 portal QB, no reason we can't

I'm old fashioned and at first glance I would say "in for a penny, in for a pound", but not going to an upper tier bowl, I wouldn't blame CRod, Levis, or anyone else if they wanted to skip it.

College Sports...the games we love are dying. Sorry folks, that's the road we are on. Pick a Professional team and follow them, because the college sports that you may have loved is selling out. I hate this, I really do. I know I'll get hammered for it, but it is what it is.

I’m surprised he’s still playing now. Zero chance he plays in a bowl.
But before I’d play the absolute jokes of backups we have no I’d just out Dane key back there or something. Sheron ain’t gonna beat eku

StL Cardinals and the Blues. I know some Reds fans will come along and get salty but I'll just throw November 1978 at them, then they'll have to look it up and go away...

I love college sports and KY is a college state. I don't see a REAL professional team coming here.

Post game levis said he was getting 2 shots pregame and at half just to play. Theres no chance he plays in the bowl game and he shouldn't. Those injuries won't heal if he continues to practice. He needs as much time to fully heal as possible in order to put his best foot forward when it comes time to solidify his draft status.

The fact that he went through all of that since the Ole Miss game for his team should tell anyone all they need to know about his leadership/toughness

We talk about meaningless bowls, but what's really coming straight at us seems pretty simple... a meaningful playoff bracket and a collection of bowl games that will become previews to the next season rather than capstones for the concluding season. I'm totally OK with that, provided we get at a 12+ team playoff. Let the controversy focus on first round byes. Outside the playoffs, let's encourage league bound kids to sit if they wish, and let coaches focus on starting spring practice for the next year in December.

Imo he hasn't been practicing much since ole miss and that's one reason he really wasn't up to speed mentally in games.

Tough guy no doubt

Bet you he and everyone else plays.
He’s a stud and doesn't want to be viewed as a quitter.

A Bowl game win over FSU puts UKs final record at 8-5 with wins at UF, v Miss St, v U of L and v say FSU.

Thats a solid season.

TV ratings are better than ever. I think you’re confusing things you don’t like with reality. College sports are as healthy as they’ve ever been.

You either love the game or you don’t will. Becoming clear this season has been all about upping wills draft stock. Fine after uk gave you the opportunity then bail. Who cares
If this season was about protecting his draft stock then he would've shut it down after his shoulder, or his toe, or once it became obvious the OL couldn't protect him, but he didn't.

Without knowing Levis personally, I can only go by impressions. He has been hurt, and is playing through pain. But I think he is a little better now. All the NFL first round talk in the media is bound to have been a distraction. But with a month between UL and the bowl, I believe Levis will play. I watched him win the Citrus Bowl, and I do not believe he could stand to leave the team now. Would seem out of character for him.

I should say, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him play. Because of what you just said. My point is I wouldn't blame him one bit if he decided to not play and heal up completely.

If we had shut him down he would slide to a 3rd rounder

And part of your name is the reason. :)

No way he should play - everyone else yes - these bowls now days mean squat - just more practice time - hopefully a good time - get to see some young players
