Levis on playing in UK's bowl

He needs to sit out of any bowl and get healthy.
Good, I actually hope he does sit out. Will be nice to get some game action for the backups since that hardly ever happens with Stoops.
UK fans were spoiled when Josh Allen decided to play as a projected Top 10 pick, but not every player is going to do this. Even fewer for a 6 or 7 win bowl game. If Levis skipped I'd understand.
...on the bright side, it would let the backups get all the snaps in bowl prep practice and the bowl game itself. Which would only help for next season when Levis would be long gone.

Plus the backup will have more football IQ than Levis too. Stoops does a shitty job of bringing along replacements.
By same logic, might as well sit the UL game as well. UGA was always going to be a loss, that one too even.

I agree, and whoever that is, the month of number 1 reps will be huge for them. Obviously if Will wants to play, he plays.
I doubt next years starter is on the team now.
I generally think it's a chickenshit move to do this, but I can totally see if Levis (or, for that matter, C Rod) makes this call this year. This year our skill guys have been getting abused on behalf of the team courtesy of bad line play and they've paid their dues in spades. Not to mention, we're not getting ranked after the bowl (probably a Toilet Bowl) anyway. And might as well get a better look at Sheron and Wade.
Agreed, and there is no chance whatsoever for Citrus. With that said, guys like Valentine and Rogers would probably be better served by playing and kicking ass.
Your quarterback was a colossal fail in other appearances against UK. 0 for 3, and each game was a bloodbath. Even a win on Saturday is no true redemption compared to three eggs being laid.
I don't think he should play. We hired an OC that had one of the worst offenses in the NFL a couple of years ago. We then pair him with an Oline coach that accepted at high school assistant coaching gig just four years ago. He has tried enough. I watch him make throws every week that most college QB's could never make. He was a far superior QB talent than national title winner Bennet last week. The only difference was talent and a horrible scheme.
Agree 100%. Having our marquee players play in the bowl games in years past (Josh Allen, etc) really helped establish a winning culture. That said, there’s not much to be gained by playing in a minor bowl. God forbid we lose on Saturday, and a bowl will be even less meaningful. I wouldn’t hold a grudge against Levis, CRod or anyone else projected to play in the NFL if they decide to skip the Liberty Bowl or the Birmingham Bowl.
If they beat Louisville it will be easier to stomach them not playing. If god forbid they don’t they need to play in a bowl.
Not gonna lie. I want Kentucky to win every bowl it plays. Wouldn’t/couldn’t blame a beat-up Levis for sitting out, but I wanna win that game.

Any logic by which you’d skip the bowl game would apply to the U6 game as well.
This confirms what I suspected all year. His running last year was a huge part of our offense....it miraculously disappeared when it was mentioned he could go first round. And don't think that isn't at least one of the reasons we have struggled so bad on offense.....along with the horrible line play

Why would he stop running the ball as his stock went up? Allen, Hurts, mahomes all run the ball and they are killing it. If anything running the ball will help his stock. I think they didn’t want to get him hurt and then he did get hurt.
If he were your son and his liveliehood was on the line would you say that, or is that solely as a fan?
I've said since the USCjr game that he should sit out the rest of the year. I like the kid, but he has his future earnings to consider and owes UK fans nothing.

IMO, the best reasons for Levis to sit out are his toe and his shoulder. If his injuries were not a factor, my WAG is that Levis could still shore up his draft status by reading progressions and making smart decisions.
Now we have Kentucky players talking about sitting out, if Will does sit out either or both of the last two games, it's a loss. After bowl games there will be plenty of time to get healthy. Players getting NIL deals and sitting out? If he is hurt as bad as some seem to think he shouldn't have been playing the last two weeks.
I think Levis is an excellent runner when healthy. I think he needs to sometimes take what is given and learn to slide instead of trying to get the extra yardage. I think his will yo win actually hinders his thought process some.
He's given everything he's has for this team and its gotten him hurt as outline cannot protect him and his OC couldn't see the schemes and O was not translating. I totally support him sitting out any postseason play as it's meaningless now.

The coaches hope the next QB isn't on the roster. But who knows. It's not like a draft, it's free agency. We could fail talking anyone in joining the shyt show. We could get another Joey Gatewood. It's ridiculous we have not groomed a backup just in case.
And that's the problem with college football for most teams. Once you lose that 2nd game anything meaningful is over most likely. We get to play in one of like 77 meaningless bowl games outside of New years 6. I continue to call them glorified exhibitions and stand by that.
That doesn't mean it doesn't benefit the players with practice and it doesn't mean people won't watch as we love football. Doesn't change the fact they are meaningless games compared to a true playoff like we see at every other level in college football. 4 and then 12 is a great first few steps but I'd rather seen UK in a 24 team playoff last year and lose a playoff first round game than beat Iowa in the who cares bowl. Just me, know many of you disagree.

AND it especially irritates me when we are compared against past bowl games before they were named after Corporations -- many fewer, and they meant something.
Levis is a millionaire because he plays football. He's being paid. Play.
