I saw the thread about who will be on our OOC schedule next season. I thought this deserved some separate conversation.

I'd like to get another series with UNC. They are the only program who owns a winning record against us, other than a few in which we've only played a minimum number of games. Assuming BigBlueHistory.net is up-to-date, here are the only programs of note in which we have a losing record:

UNC: 18-25
UConn: 1-4
Zona: 2-3
USC: 0-3
Georgetown: 0-2

BTW, we are 40-17 against Little Brother, 32-25 against IU, and 13-11 against Duke.

0-3 vs USC is quite a shocker.

I gotta imagine the slot that went to Indiana is going to preclude this from happening…..we already are committed to the Champions and CBS Classics…..Louisville, Indiana and I think behind the scenes we have committed to a St. John’s game next year as well. The SEC isn’t going to repeat this year but it will still be solid. Can’t make the schedule soooooooooooo insane.

Pitino doesn’t want a real game. He wants an “exhibition”.

St Peters 0-1
SW Louisiana 0-1
Memphis 0-1
Middle Tennessee 0-1
CCNY 0-1
Advent Memorial Group 0-1
Christ Church Cincinnati 0-4
Cincinnati YMCA 0-2
Evansville 0-1
Gardner Webb 0-1
Great Lakes 0-2
New Albany YMCA 0-1
New York University 0-2
Oakland 0-1
Ohio Weslyan 0-2
Richmond 0-1
Texas Western 0-1
UNC Wilmington 0-1

The nostalgia addiction has locked us back into a pointless, no upside series with IU which limits our flexibility to add useful contests.

A series with Purdue would be more beneficial to the program.
Hell, a series with Butler might be too.

Silly and stubborn move. We can only suffer, not be rewarded.

Cal added 4 of those… (not counting his abysmal record va UCONN too : 1-3)

Also responsible for Duke closing the gap (1-3)

I wouldn’t be opposed to Pope scheduling all those teams throughout his tenure and erasing as many (that still exist) as he can. On that thought, should the UTEP Head to Head be factored into Texas Western? Since the university claims Texas Western’s history as their own and is located on the same campus (they changed their name the in 1967 after winning the 1966 title)?

If I was the UK Athletics Director, we would never again play UNCCH in any sport men’s and women’s. Their record against us has an asterisk beginning in 1967 when Dean E Smith began his creation and implementation of the academic fraud scheme that has carried on until today. The only true national championship in basketball that they have ever won was under Frank McGuire. All others had academically ineligible players. They have been a fraud since 1967.

We have a chance in the CBS Sports Classic next year.

The event has regularly gone out of order to garner better matchups.

UCLA is going to be top 15 though (most likely) so my guess is we still play them, but the event MIGHT want to swap it out for a UK/UNC battle to up their TV ratings and make more money.

CBS sports classic needs to change the teams so each team is from a separate conference... with UNC/UK playing, OSU/UCLA are playing what is essentially and in-conference game. It doesn't count toward Big Ten standings, but it counts for interest in viewership (or lack of).

Problem is the State Farm classic has UK, Duke, Mich St, and Kansas...so having UK and Kansas in both classics doesn't make sense.

Not sure who would make the most sense instead of OSU... UConn, maybe?

Ugh, if it wasn’t for UNC during the Fox bam and monk days, and UConn, we’d have 11 titles. Think about that. It makes me sick
If a frog had wing? Why dwell on the past that most likely will NEVER change. You sure do not sound like you would be any fun at a party.

😂😂😂 yeah I get what you’re saying but I for sure am not a Debbie downer with the team we are bringing in this year.

We were 6-16 against UNC through 1995. 12-9 since.

Texas Western is UTEP. The reason it’s listed as Texas Western is because that’s the name of the school at the time they played.

UK has never played UTEP when they were called this. But if they did the result would go under UTEP / Texas El-Paso.

I knew they were the same university.

Don’t realize we had never played UTEP since…good to know it would indeed be included in the “Texas Western” data and could in fact erase that H2H losing data point…and constant reminder of the 1966 game

Neither am I. I really like the team and like every school in the entire nation, to win the National Championship, it will take a great group of kids playing as a team, LUCK, avoid injuries, NCAAT good seeding, and hopefully avoid a poor outing in the single elimination NCAAT.
All stars have to line up for any team to win. Today if each one of us have the chance to pick 5 teams that they think will or could win it all, few if any of our 5 teams picked will be the winner. The bet is pick 5 against the field. Let's all make our list and see how many actually are correct.
