Cal supporters and critics alike, can we all agree that THIS upcoming season is IT for Cal? That it’s “go time?” Everyone on Cal’s team has been putting their eggs in this basket since last season. So sack up and chime in and acknowledge that this is where the rubber meets the road: If Cal can’t get it done with this class, he’s done as a winner. No more kicking the can down the road. Vice versa works too.

You just wait til next year!!!

The problem is the definition of “can’t get it done”. To me after whats he’s done to the program he’s in title or bust territory. To others they would be happy to see an elite 8. Some a FF is ok. That’s my fear is cal makes an elite eight does his hocus pocus garbage and the cal cult gets behind him like a wall. If this worst case happens it’s over for UK bb with cal beyond next year sans title well that’s no bueno. Worst case scenario in my mind. Cal acts like he’s been ratface to uk bb. The guy is delusional and will mobilize his “cal cult” with Barney offering to extend his contract. It sounds far fetched but man nothing is impossible with the ego running things

Anything short of elite 8 and he is gone

If Cal makes the FF without some serious additions to the current roster it will border on the miraculous

I guess if you make the decisions. Is he getting fired or something?

I’m convinced there is absolutely nothing that can convince a Cal supporter that he isn’t the guy and the only guy Kentucky can have to lead the program.

Anyone who doesn’t support Cal acknowledges that if Kentucky wins it all next year than his entire tenure gets a pass and he will be revered as a legend.

I think that is the difference between the two groups of UK fans at the moment.

After the 9 and 16 season we were promised the revenge tour.

We lose to St Pete

Then we were promised more changes and GREATNESS and we get last season

It’s long past time for him to be gone. Some still have the Emperor’s new clothes mindset and don’t really see what’s going on

I thought next season would be his last, but now I`m not sure. When Cal first arrived here, he could pick and choose who he wanted, so he would wait until the last minute, offer a kid and most often get him. He had that used car salesman in him, plus it was the University of Kentucky. He still has that recruiting philosophy and it`s starting to hurt us.
The SEC was and still is a football conference and most schools spent their money there, while basketball was secondary. Now, in the last 4-5 years, schools have been hiring coaches who can coach and recruit. Recruits, now, what that attention and if we wait on offering them, they think we weren't really interested in them, especially when other schools have been recruiting them for a year or 2. So they are going elsewhere.
Players in the portal will not come here to sit, they want to play (most likely why most are in the portal). So getting another guard through the portal will be next to impossible when we have 4 that will get most of that playing time. We should be able to get a forward or a 5, since playing time would be available there, but I don't want a body, I want someone who could give us a lift and help get to a 9th title. I don`t think Oscar will be back and Ugo didn`t play much last season for a reason and he`ll have to make a big jump from last season and I`m skeptical on if he can do that or not.
We`ll see how this coming season ends, but with mostly freshmen going against older teams, it will be difficult. Plus, like I said above, we need to add a 4 or a 5 for depth and I`m not seeing that.

So, NOTHING the man can do is bad enough for you to turn your back on him?
Oh I don’t think he’s a good in game coach. But I’m patient enough to see how the roster is actually finalized over assuming the whole Kentucky world has gone up in flames. I’ll judge it once I know the roster is complete . It’s all assumptions by everyone right now. There’s people out there who literally think Kentucky will end up with a 7 or 8 man roster lol

They are not actual fans like you and I. Every social media platform has its resident contrarians/ trolls who serve no purpose but to sling shit and get the real fans riled up. Just ignore those clowns.

Not happening. Cal is at Kentucky several more years regardless of what happens this year. Get used to it.

I don't understand this line of thinking. I get that UK could use a change at the helm, but why do you think Cal wants to burn the program to the ground before he leaves? I think he still wants to win, even if his outdated tactics aren't working anymore. College basketball has changed immensely over the last ten years, with the style of play and the wild west that is the transfer portal and NIL. It's one thing to say he's not doing a good job anymore... But to say he doesn't want to win and in fact wants to burn a program to the ground on his way out doesn't make an ounce of sense. Please enlighten me as to why this would be his goal?

Can you further elaborate on what does getting it done mean to you?

I've assumed for a while that he'd hang it up after this season but based on his recent comments he actually wants to ride out his contract thru 2028. 😐
Yeah. No way he’s here by then if the performance continues to drop. Rupp would be empty. And then Mitch would have to act. And if he couldn’t. Some would be found who could.

IMO-It will be much closer to 2030 than 2024 before cal moves on. Cash is King.

GBB!

Who knows with Mitch. We will soon be to a decade without a final four as don't see one next season and sure we won't the year after.
