No doubt. You would think they could find their own recruits. Surely our lowly 3*'s wouldn't even be worth their time???Originally posted by Smashcat:

Interesting. You make a good point. Bama's status gives them a different recruiting platform. Bama's coaches can afford to watch other schools' early commitment lists, then go after some of those players. Our coaches work hard to find and assess talent early. We get in on players before other schools do. Our coaches focus on a few states, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, DC. Sometimes players commit to us before they have attended camps and been fully rated. Derrick Kelly, Montrell Custis, Alex Stump, Landon Young, Davonte Robinson. Stoops takes a lot of early commitments, then tries to hang on in the fall. With this approach, we lose some players. Happens everywhere, but a bigger danger when you take a lot of early commits. For all the blather we see here about decommits, Stoops has actually succeeded very well in rebuilding Kentucky's roster. Talentwise, we are in much better shape than 2 years ago. If I have 1 question, it would be about plan B. Signing Sihiem King was a great back-up plan, but we got caught a little bit light in the trenches at the last minute by losing so many linemen, Riley, Strowbridge, Hamilton. The jucos may help to make up for it, but I don't think Stoops would have signed them without the decommits happening. Fortunately, there is always next year. Young and Drake Jackson are solid commitments. From what little I have seen of Fortner and Bannerman, I like them. Young fills a pressing need as an offensive tackle, but we need 1 more. We also need defensive tackles. I think a bowl is in our immediate future, and 2016 will be a banner recruiting year for us. You can not eliminate the decommitment problem completely, but I expect our 2016 class to end on a much better note.Originally posted by DACats86:

I don't think you understand how Bama operates, they don't operate they same as UK, UGA or everyone else. They have 35 former college and HS coaches who do nothing but look at prospect tape year round. When they see someone they feel Saban might be interested in they put it on a disc with other kids who meet that standard. Bama hands out very few offers where the kid can commit on the spot, their offers are to attend camp and earn a committable offer. Several reasons they can do that, one is their recent success.Originally posted by Blue Decade:

15 was a crazy year for kids decommitting, it wasn't happening just at UK, it was nationwide. From start to finish UGA had 9 decommit, had 5 flips come our way and 2 that decommitted from us ended up coming back on signing day. I hope 15 was just an odd year and not the beginning of a trend. But the issue is no one backs off once a kid commits to a school, actually seems like they come harder. But it isn't entirely on the schools, the kids enjoy "Getting the Love" from all the schools coming after them. I haven't done any research, but just a guess I would think there were at least 50 decomits in the SEC last year, SC had 8 or so, UF had a bunch of them too, we may have had the most with 9, even Bama lost a few, we ended up with 2 of them.Originally posted by jauk11:
There were several reasons for the larger than usual number of de-commits in 15, and it wasn't just UK that had those, although our SIX game winning streak undoubtedly factored into it. In 14 we had ONE de-commit, and I would be amazed if we ended this season like we did in 14. I would also be amazed if we had nearly the de-commits this year, in fact this staff has PROVEN they can recruit with poor results on the field, and I think we will do very well with a much better record and more competitiveness this year.
LOL! You kill me. I understand very well how Alabama does things.Originally posted by Grumpyolddawg:

Good to hear, but Bama only has about 20 offers out right now where the kid can commit to them, all the rest are basically invites to their camp to see if they can earn that committable offer. When kids are lining up to sign with you you can play things that way.Originally posted by Blue Decade:
