Lamont Butler returning to non contact practice today

Keep him out against SCAR (UK should win that without him).

Keep him out against UT, as Butler's first game back does not need to be against a super physical team.

Bring him back for game against Texas a week from this Sat or the following game against Vandy at Rupp. Should be good games for him to get reacclimated (if that's a word). See how he performs and go from there.

They really need these 2 games upcoming and if hard to see them winning either one without him

South Carolina is no slouch. Sure their record says otherwise, but they took Florida to OT and almost beat UT. That is a game we absolutely could drop if we’re not on our A game

I think Pope wants to get Butler back to where he has the best chance of not having another setback.

Anyway...I just want him to be healthy for a post season run. That is all that really matters now. We have poor defense but it didn't keep us from kicking ass in the non conference.

imo, a fully healthy team get us a few tourney wins.

And how realistic is it to expect them to do it again?

I'm just gonna count it as a loss now.

The key here is that we just need to get a few wins to make it into the tournament. Unpopular take, but I don't give a damn about the SECT with our health issues.

What I want most, and what I think is best for Pope to continue his success, is for us to get like a 5-6seed (or higher) and grab a Sweet16. If we can do that, this year was a huge success.

I guess its a mind set. You do tend to lean glass half empty as alot of people on here do because of the past 5 or 6 years and I get that. Im more of a “hey are you gonna drink the rest of that” kind of guy. 😎

I wouldn’t mind them making it or atleast Friday at the SEC tourney but yeah that tourney is irrelevant this year.

I agree on SCAR but if he's good to go, I'd play him against UT and get the sweep.

Amen

get well and everyone hopefully gets better soon, and we will win in the end. I'm not worried about the end result if we can get everyone healthy.

That will take care of itself when the time comes. Just get back to as much as 100% as we can. This season was a year where we did not need a single injury to anyone, and dern if it aint getting us again, just because it so rough playing for Kentucky.

thanks coach Pope, for the update! and thank you OP for calling our attention to it.

Agree 100%.

Get us to the 2nd weekend. It'll be our 1st trip since 2019. From there, truly anything can happen. I'll root like hell for us to advance. And I think we can. But everything beyond a sweet 16 is gravy, and I won't be upset with Pope or the team if they can accomplish that.

this is how I feel , and I thought we might be able to accomplish all of this and exceed expectations, because they were barren and devoid of any real substantive positive thoughts that we could get that far in year one with Pope and with everything that had gone down.

its still going down, but this has been a refreshing and rejuvenating season for my old blue blood.

My GOd, folks. I was literally like 5 when dad took me to Bloomigton and we saw them eviscerate us in that hateful, God awful place. Me and dad were the only kentucky fans I saw at that game. The rest of our family were all Hoosier fans, and they were decked out in red, we rode in with them, thankfully, we would have been vandalized Im sure if we hadnt been with well respected old school hoosier fans to go to the game with that were family.

so we left unscathed.

but that was my very first and earliest memory of watching Kentucky play. Can you imagine that?

It scarred me for life. So I have a lifelong hatred for IU that doesn't translate to todays era (or... ahem - 1987 ! haha! lol!!)

I came from a man and woman that loves Kentucky and our basketball team. Dad was born in 20 and mom in 30. So they were there from the beginning. I am thankful every day I was gifted a place at the table of BBN. I try to represent it right and be respectful to our opponents and gracious in victory or defeat.

It not just how you face adversity. It also how you face defeats, how you are when you win, and how you carry yourself in life that makes for a good person. There's actually a lot of fine, good people right here, and I love this place. Even wayyy back when I simply lurked for so long.

I love the above post. We can get healthier and we've already exceeded things in games when we didnt have the men we need out there. So anything can happen.

We're going to do alright. The future is bright!

Go Big Blue !

Yes, but all those close game losses were at home, the away game losses were blowouts except Vandy 66-63L

We only had one bad season under Cal.

We had some bad endings.

It was time for us to have a program first leader.

We have the very epitome of that now.

And the future is bright. Enjoy it!!👍🏀
The last 5 years of cal were just mentally taxing, I think it’s something that’s takes a full year to get over. Pope is different, I know he will be willing to change. This offseason will be the first step towards that.

I feel your pain brotha. I cannot stand Hoosier fans here in Indiana. I hope they keep Mike Woodson for a lifetime contract. Can you imagine what IU fans would be like if a coach like Bruce Pearl resurrected the Hoosiers! Puke
