Don't think it's fair to pin the Paul trade on Laker management, and recent drafting has been ok, but the rest is accurate.
Aike, There was a recent comment by the previous NBA commisioner (David Stern) where he states that Mitch Kupchak panicked. The deal to acquire Chris Paul would have been consummated within a day or two. He says that Kupchak jumped the gun and went with the Lamar Odom to Dallas trade that made the megatrade no longer possible. As far as recent draft picks being ok and their inability to sign top notch free agents I respectfully disagree. They have a 4 year running playoff drought and oversized contracts for Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov on their books. Magic has his job cut out for him.

Quite simply, I do not believe David Stern. It is revisionist history for him to blame this on Mitch, when Laker fans have hated Stern for years.

I didn't say anything about FA signing, but I don't see what's so terrible about their recent drafting. Ingram, Russell, Randle, and Nance have all been solid pickups. Clarkson was also a good get for a purchased second round pick.

No grand slams in the draft, but a bunch of singles and doubles. One or two may prove better than that yet.

You are correct about singles and doubles. I just had higher expectations that were probably unrealistic. I was hoping that being in the lottery so often would eventually get them a Karl Anthony-Towns, Giannis Antetetokounmpo or maybe even Kristaps Porzingis. The ping pong balls just didn't fall their way. I falsely believed that the Lakers would return to prominence through free agency and the draft. That commissioner veto set the Lakers team back half a decade or more. Btw...I do believe that the jury is still out on the recent draft picks.
