Labissiere and Briscoe

Lol you all are so hostile just calm down. I feel like if Matthews doesn't go OAD you all will try to throw it back in my face because that's what this board is all about. I would be happy as hell if Charles comes back after his freshman season, but it not about me. You all are the ones acting like its a ridiculous notion that he could be one and done. It very well may happen, there is a reason Matthews is at UK, do I really have to explain what that reason is? He's an NBA prospect and we know how that works. If you are projected first round, you go. Matthews will be a first round pick, and it will likely be next year. Once again, I don't care about his ranking. I'm going by what I hav seen, what Cal has said, and what has happened in the past. Nobody has come up with a reasonable argument against it besides citing Stacey Poole, Liggins, etc. not being OAD first rounders. Until someone comes on here and tells me what his glaring weaknesses are that would prevent him being drafted next year, I will continue to belittle your atrociously flawed arguments, and I'm not sorry. Seriously someone break Matthews down without mentioning his High School ranking, former players with similar body type, or his "inconsistent" jumpshot (remains to be seen, remember Doron Lamb wasn't heralded as a great shooter out of HS). That's all I've seen anyone on this thread say against him

Amazing how many times you mention "this board is all about" you have been here one year it looks like.

And if you continue to belittle people you will just look like an uneducated jerk.

As to Matthews you are the one who hasn't presented a compelling argument as to why he is first rounder next year. No professional service agrees with you in any of the mocks. (I know you don't care about rankings, evaluators, etc because you know more than the entire world)

He is the average height of all NBA shooting guards, has yet to show an above average shooting capability in high school. High energy, athletic 2 guards that play great defense are not typically first rounders, and we do not know how good he is on defense yet.

You being an ass also takes away from your credibility. I'd like to side with you in saying I think Matthews is much better than Poole, but I'd rather say nothing at all that agrees with your views and immature actions.

Try being respectful, conversations will stay on topic more often.

Mathews is NOT a one and done. He is a 2-3 year player.

You seem very certain, very definitive statement with no extrapolation. So that doesnt qualify as opinion. Are you sure he's not a 4 year player?

This. Well said.

Kari, there is no evidence to date that the kid is a first rounder next year.

You can have your opinion but that doesn't make it right.

If he is good enough to go OAD then we will all be happy to eat crow and say you are the man.

Im not worried about sounding uneducated, especially since I have a better grasp of the English language than you do. You should learn the correct contexts in which the words "good" and "well" are used. It's actually pretty basic grammar, you should be able to figure it out.

By the way, no one on this board has "credibility", we are pretty much all anonymous posters. No one is ever deemed credible here, its always a competition of who is more right. I realize I'm taking part in the competition, but at least I'm winning.

Not sure why you compare Skal - Jones and Poy - Harrison, exact opposite positions?

Irregardless, your points are well taken, if this group can get to the FF as well, that would be great season IMHO.

Jones was our post presence in 2010-11 and Labissiere is going to be our post scorer in 2015-16.

Harrellson was our second option inside in 2010-11 and Poythress will be our second option in 2015-16.

Vargas was our backup big in 2010-11 and Lee is our backup in 2015-16.

I was just comparing our frontlines in 2010-11 and 2015-16.

And I realize I'm only winning in my own mind. Everyone on this board is right because we all think we are right.

I realize Matthews isn't considered a first rounder at this point, but if you look at the OP I predicted he will follow in Bookers footsteps. Booker wasn't considered a first rounder until during the season and his stock has soared all year. I think the same will happen with Matthews. You have to consider the Kentucky effect (sorry for being cliche) and what Calipari will do for Charles. Charles is probably about the same age as Booker as well, if not older. You all know that I don't put much stock into HS ranking (Selby was 1st in his class) and I think Matthews will be one of the 15 best college freshman this season.

Who took over Kari's keyboard? Where has this level headed approach come from?

I agree with the KY effect.

The other side of this line of thinking is that Booker is considered the best shooting guard in his class and the best in the draft. With Curry and Klay tearing up the NBA Booker will reap the benefit.

The other thing to consider may be the twins. No KY effect there.

Charles may improve his shooting and become a superstar defender, and make the jump, it is definitely not impossible and if he does you are a genius and we will all be happy.

As of now he doesn't have a stand out tool and Briscoe, Skal, possibly Mulder and especially Murray, if he comes, may limit his opportunities....?

Yeah I mean at this point I'm hoping Charles doesn't make me look like a jackass. I don't even know for sure if he will beat out Mulder for playing time at the 3. I think he will and I really think he can compete at this level right now. He is a smart, tough and mature player. High BBall IQ and he and Ulis have chemistry, they've played together alot already.

I've said on this board before, not on this thread, that Booker wouldn't have been a lotto pick had he gone anywhere else. He would have been a returning sophomore anywhere else. That's why I think Charles will go first round next year. He will prove he can hang with competition, and heavily contribute on a Sweet 16-Final 4 potential team. At Kentucky that affords you a pretty unique opportunity. We do this better than anyone else. Kansas and Puke have caught on and UNC just doesn't give s***. They will just keep on cheating after they get away with their scandal. No college coach has more influence with scouts and GMs than Calipari. He is not a salesman, he is a masterful marketer.

I like what I've seen from Matthews, but I'm not sure if he will make as big of an impact his first year versus the next 3.

I like this guy better than the guy who posted in this thread previously.

Just my prediction (yes, it's an opinion):

Skal, Briscoe, & Poythress are the only players from this year's team that get drafted in 2016.

That is not a bad opinion. I'm sure you have your reasons even though you didn't explain them. I disagree, Lee seems likely to declare for the draft as well. I think we will have 5 players go and load up in the '16 class with Ulis and senior leadership to guide the young talent.
