Ksr talk about the team

Kerr and Carr will be part of our core, and should be the cure for things that ailed us last year.

Yeah I heard him say he wondered if we can get top recruits and then he went on to talk about Moreno and Johnson may neither one come here. He said if we can't get either of the top 2 guys from KY that is a concern. He did fail to mention that Pope was able to retain one and land one of the top 2-3 KY kids in this years class in Perry and Noah. IMO landing kids that fit your program is better than taking a kid just because he is from Kentucky. I'm not saying he does or doesn't want Moreno or Johnson because all indications are he does, but not landing either isn't a sign of he can't recruit. Cal didn't get every good KY kid and being a good recruiter is about the only thing he does do well. NIL has changed things and not every KY kids dream is to play at UK like it was 20-30 years ago.
Kid these are not kids. They have NIL agents and make 6 figure incomes

You have your opinion. I've got mine. He's sucked when it matters most and at a place like this, if you don't think that matters, well no reason to that Cal shouldn't still be the coach then.
You've already labeled him a "massive disappointment" and he hasn't played a minute yet at UK. I think he will provide quality minutes in a back up role, and I'm glad he's here.

The standard doesn't change because a new coach is in place. Players like Kriisa have shown they don't perform on the stage that is what matters at Kentucky. It's one thing to have a shooting night/game like Reed Sheppard in a 1 game situation. This guy has performed like that every opportunity on that stage. So that's the base line for judging performance. Hoping for him to have an outlier season, okay, I'll give you that and hope that he surpasses his production in the NCAA's. Hope isn't a plan in sports though. The goals at Kentucky are to win in the Postseason and contend for Championships. Guys who are piss awful in that environment, not what I'm investing in. Pope-who has never won an NCAA game is doing so. I like Pope so hopefully this all comes together.

If so, will gladly admit to being wrong--and believe last time we interacted on a basketball issue, you had mentioned you weren't sold on Nate Oats system and downplayed his success. So there's some interesting measurements of success being used to evaluate by you. Each to their own.

"back-up role..." nobody is asking him to carry a team

Oats is 117-54 at Alabama; that's 68%. He's made 1 Final Four. Repeat it and then maybe I'll be a believer. Shaka Smart also made a FF at VCU with his "havoc" defense and never pissed a drop since; lots of dudes have done that. I'm in wait and see mode

In fairness to Kerr, he sprained his ankle in their conference tournament in 2022. Pretty sure he missed the first game of the NCAA tournament. Doubt he was 100%, but don’t remember for sure.

I think there’s a pretty good chance we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Also glad we have enough pieces that we shouldn’t be overly dependent on him.
