Did Reed Sheppard lose his “Lifetime Y” card?

Not sure why Reed thought the fans would find it funny .
His coach. The same one who kept him on the bench for 12-15 minutes per game while the opponent ran up up a 15 point lead. Wake up Reed. Should have played 30-35 min per game and we might not have lost in first round. Cal’s an asshole and Reed is dumber for believing Cal is his coach.

Honestly, I never really got the Reed mythologizing. People put him up there with some big names in our history. He’s even on the bittersweet symphony video now for some reason.

At the end of the day, he was a one and done that had a really nice personal season but won nothing of note for UK.
He lost in the first round of the ncaa and got torched for 27 by an insurance salesman. That’s not legendary by any means.

Disappointing, at best.
There was no reason to do that. Have any other of Cal's ex-players taken that attitude?
I have seen Jeff and Stacy at other games, so I don't think that their loyalties have changed.

GO CATS

Agree.

This comment makes it even worse. To think this game was something to make a "joke" about after the way his OWN one season here ended with Cal as the coach is EXTREMELY short-sighted!!!

The fans of UK buy a WHOLE LOT of former players gear when they make it to the next level, especially WHEN someone from Kentucky makes it!!! Just not a smart business move even if he didn't really care what the UK fans thought. Which is still mind boggling to me considering Cal was FORCED to actually recruit him and his dad was Coach Pope's room mate while they were at UK.

Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm just SHOCKED by this!!!
His comment illustrates how bad the problem got with Cal. Cal and his players cared about Cal, not about UK or the fans. Now UK fans have to listen to his sanctimonious bullshit for at least one more year. Hopefully the teams meet in the tourney.

I saw the article today on KSR and it looks like he’s going to pull for both, which is ok when your HOME state is not playing them. He's not as loyal as I thought he was. By doing what he did, he is just like Mintz, Ty Ty and Hagens and Toppin are to me, just another university of Cal player. I just didn’t think he would ever do that, if he does that, there is no more loyalty anywhere with these kids today.

Maybe if he such an Ark fan he should start going there wearing his Ark shirt.
I wonder how many Arkansas fans have or will buy a Reed Sheppard Jersey???? I've seen PLENTY of UK fans or their kids wearing one!!!

To treat Cal going to Arky EQUIVALENT to what the UK fans base has done to support him is truly mind boggling!!

So, he thought it was funny? He was supporting his coach? These kids don't hang around anywhere long enough to develop that type of loyalty. After that "dumb a" response, I am through with him. As far as I am concerned, he is an Arkansas product.

I knew he had love from Cal and I can’t blame him because we the fans never had a personal relationship with Cal so we look at it different .

But Reed has to read the room and know it would be a bad look .
This. Or wear Arky shorts or shoes for goodness sakes. I think had he don't that, it would've been fine. To me, and lots of others, that look says, "Arky/Cal is more important to me than UK because I'm wearing it across my chest."

ANY of the other Coach Cal guys I would have understood (although not liked it). A kid from Kentucky, whose parents played at Kentucky (the Ultimate Legacy) ... I just thought he would have thought it out better.

When Cal leaves Arkansas in 2-3 years, that picture will live forever. And Reed has no ties to Arkansas and they are one of our rivals.

If you want to support Cal, get a Coach Cal shirt. Whatever. But he is not from Arkansas, didn't play at Arkansas ... it just rubbed me the wrong way.

Oh, okay.

Reed should have definitely known better than to show his former coach and mentor respect and support. He has to act in accordance with what the extremely fragile fanbase desires. Got it!
Oh okay.

How ‘bout this.. If Reed is ignorant enough to like Triple C he could easily have gotten that point across without kissing his ass on social media and simply been quiet and respectful regarding the emotions of that game. He ‘WAS’ most every UK fans favorite player and a lot of Kentucky kids’ hero. He had no reason to spit in BBN’s faces and that’s what he did. He can take his 40+ million and cram it. He’s lost his mind.

Matt Jones. He is someone that I would agree to ban but not Reed Sheppard. I like him as much now as I ever did. Wish him nothing but the best.

He accomplished NOTHING here. Was a good 3-pt shooter who just stood around begging for the ball, and was lazy on defense. He just about mailed it in for the first round loss.
A he had an incredible number of steals . That is not being lazy on defense .

You know what pisses me off? Reed’s wearing the same shirt that PJ was. Coincidence? Cal can leave and start another legacy in ark if he wants, but he’s a POS for trying to bring former KY players to ark with him. All those years of bringing out old players from years and years ago to midnight madness and talking about how important it is that former players are apart of UKs program, and then he sends out shirts to former players to wear of his new school. Can guarantee he’s had them talking with recruits and pushing for Arkansas as well. **** him

Image matters whether you like it or not. Try wearing your company's competitor logo to work and see how well that works for you.

This is an incredible analogy.

Imagine you're going into an important pitch to an important prospective client. You start your presentation with materials that have branding from both your current company and your previous one that is now competition for this same client.

Does anyone think that would be appropriate? Would it help if you explained "my former boss works there now"? Of course not. Youd be fired as you should be.

To make matters worse, cal only offered reed to shut fans up. Didn't want to play him. Literally dogged him in the media more than once.

I'm from London.
We might yank that shirt off your back and stick it in your daddy's mouth.
Traitor ass bullshit.

His support dried up like his mommy pie for daddy.

In other words it was a bad mistake putting that ****ing shirt on. You will never live that down my friend lololol.

This is a dumb argument. Reed was AWFUL against Oakland. Also regardless of what you think about Cal, from an objective standpoint Reed was drafted in the top 3 after one season with him. I think it’d be insane for him not to appreciate Cal. Our fans are ****ing ridiculous at times. Are we really this angry about someone supporting their coach, who they obviously have an allegiance to as anyone would??

Did you feel this way when Derrick Rose came to a UK shootaround? It ain’t that deep man

I know people are passionate about UK bball. I love it. I’ve loved it as far back as I can remember. But some people are acting like Reed chose the wrong side in the freaking Civil War. He wore a damn tshirt while still repping UK shorts. Yes, it’s not a great look, but it’s not near as serious as some of you folks are still making it out to be.

He should’ve just worn Arky shorts too as far as I’m concerned. I can’t think of him the same, and I was a huge fan of the kid, since I grew up and live in Pike Co. I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I first saw the pic. I always try to keep everything in life in its proper perspective, but this was just short sighted and not smart by Reed. I hope Jeff gets in his ear about this, and tells him he needs to apologize to the fans and do his best to restore his UK loyalty. I don’t want to feel ill toward the kid.

There is far more to playing defense than getting an occasional steal. Terrible defender.
Yup. Whenever he went for steals he literally gambled and left his assignment wide open.

We didn’t have good defensive players last year. If we did we wouldn’t have lost to an Oakland team that barely beat Detroit Mercy.

Eh, idc about this. He's showing he's torn between his former coach and former team.
It was just TyTy and Toppin's former team so their comments are more understandable. However it was Reed's favorite school growing up. It was his dads alma matter where he won a title and is a UK legend. It was his mom's alma matter where she is a legend. It is the state school where he lives. It is where fans stood for hours and spent a lot of money for his autograph signings last year. It was where fans spent a lot of money buying his jersey for their kids who idolized him. It is where businesses spent tens of thousands of dollars for his endorsement that went into his pocket. No it wasn't just his former team.
Some one said.
Drew Franklin said it on the KSR pre game show.
