Read on KSR that they would be calling John Feinstein in the show today to discuss why he is the sole person still voting Virginia #1 instead of Kentucky. Did not get a chance to hear the segment. Anyone that listens; did Matt call him? What was said? TIA

That jerk is on 104.5 every week at like 1pm one day a week on the Midday 180. That station is full of UK haters though with Paul Kuharsky leading the way, and you of course have Mark Howard on the morning show.

So they didn't call him?
I don't know if they ever found a # to even try, Matt even asked the listeners to try and find it...

Seriously???

Sounds like a Seinfeld episode or something.

That sucks. I read the blog that had listed all of the things he had done in his "anti-Kentucky" agenda life yesterday and it was clear that he OPENLY has it in for UK and all things UK.............especially the fans. Was really hoping they would get a hold of him and force him to admit it.

MJ said that they "turned" that other guy who voted Virginia last week so maybe they can change the mind of JF. I like the thought but I think they were truly expecting someone to just call up with the number...funny.

Matt has the best job in the world.

He's a damn Yankee that hates UK and the south in general. Does anyone really care about a jackass with an agenda?

My sentiments exactly sir, thnks

Actually, it has little to do with being a Yankee. He is a Dukie. He graduated a year before UK beat Duke for the title.

preacher, hah, It was kind of random show today(is a lot of the time), had several things they were going to talk about or do and then other mostly meaningless stuff took up the time.

Cut-Nets, they had Feinstein on once last year, but Matt let him do most of the talking so Jones wasn't able to really nail Feinstein to the wall on his UK hatred as was planned.

I fully realize he's a Dookie, but he's also a Yankee. I'm sure he doesn't see Dook as evil like he does the rest of the south. He's an elitist turd.

Now, of course, Feinstein has little use for Calipari. And he seems generally approving of Pitino, although he says little about him so it's hard to say for sure. So it was interesting to me when I came across a column a few months ago, forgot where or even why I was looking, that Feinstein wrote around the time that Cal's UMass team was playing the '96 Cats. You will find this hard to believe, but at that time, Calipari was the good guy, full of energy and vigor and doing a masterful coaching job with his outmanned squad. And Pitino wore the black hat, with his bullying UK team. That was close to 20 years ago, so maybe the two men have changed and Feinstein's opinions on each has changed as well. But it was pretty easy to get the idea that, as far as Feinstein is concerned, whomever is coaching UK is a bad guy......Unless it's Tubby, who could conveniently be used as a club to beat UK fans with.......

Jon Scott has a nice write up about the history on John Feinstein and Kentucky.

Howard's distaste comes from when he was on Channel 5 and UK fans would call the station and complain if a UK game-feed was switched to another game. LOL, what a jerk...

Does not having a Twitter acct. make a difference? Maybe some people don't feel the need to share every thought that comes into their head.

He's a darn yankee, jabba lookalike, who went to Duke and doesn't even have a Twitter account or a public phone number and he hates UK.

I think we summed up the thread so far.....

I would love for mods to ban anyone that always feel the need to post this in a thread. Just ignore it and let the others who are actually interested in said topic discuss it. There's always the one who has to chime in with the "who cares" comment.

I agree, or at least they could delete the posts. It's just a license to be a prick on the internet.

John Feinstein loves him some John Feinstein. He is like the adolescent who smiles as he walks to the principal's office for detention, knowing full well that he got people to react to his shenanigans and ruin a portion of their days.

He is arrogant, entitled, and elitist. Those are not Yankee qualities, or even (always/necessarily) Duke qualities. They are the qualities of an ass.

These qualities are only barely eclipsed by his obvious intelligence and strong communication skills. Feinstein is an effective communicator. And, regrettably, he is famous and influential.

Narcissist + Intelligent + Famous + Disdains UK = gets way more attention than he deserves from this fan base.

UK fans, ignore him. Your hate of John Feinstein only feeds his ego and he loves it. He truly loves it.

Just find it a surprise that a national journalist wouldn't have one. Not to share every little thought but to instantly get scores, get quick analysis on all games throughout the country so you can make an informed opinion on the sports you're voting on.

Uuuh, John Feinstein does have a twitter account.

https://twitter.com/jfeinsteinbooks

He had a CBS Radio twitter account as well before he got canned.

He wrote a book called Forever's Team about the young Duke team that lost to UK in the final. He has hated UK since. He once called Joe B. Hall "a bland, humorless man" and when called out on it said "and the untrue part of that is?"

The only redeeming value he has is he made Bob Knight look like an ass in A Season on the Brink.

Bobby didn't need any help looking like an ass.

The only "forever" in that team is that they will always be on the losing side of the ledger in the 1978 National Championship game. Suck it, Dukie.

That Duke team had at least one thing in common with Coach K's teams. I was watching that final on youtube the other day and Mike Phillips got his third foul early in the first half. Givens got his third with about 10 minutes left in the first half or he might have scored 60 on em. Remember these are two seniors getting fouls called on them guarding younger players.

So Jones never really had any plan to call this guy, but he lead on like he would and never revealed they didn't even have his contact info until in the middle of the show.

Just another ploy to get people to listen in and pump up the advertising dollars...How fitting.

Good find. I just did a quick Google search and didn't see one. Seemed if Matt wanted to get a hold of him, Twitter is always an outlet.

And others don't have the need to share something that never occurs. By the way Rand Paul is also a Dukie. The only Dukie that is OK IMO is MJ
