Kobe, how would he have fared on each of these teams besides Kentucky?

He's not overly athetlic. Is neither quick nor fast. Cannot create for himself. Marginally better at it when guys like Robinson and Butler are in because he gets a little more space. Is an atrocious defender. I'd reckon he'd probably fare about the same there as well.

Probably gets more open looks at Duke. But not as much playing time.

UNC has too many guards as it is.

Kansas a wash. Probably puts up the same numbers.

He picked the right school. He’s just an inconsistent player.

She literally does this all the time. Flames absolutely way out overboard. I wish fans could apply a little context to their evaluating. Shooters are not going to make all their shots every game and Brea isn’t going to be a good defender game in and game out.
It’s almost as if brea is a catch and shoot specialist and not a guy who usually creates for himself. Having 2 guards who can get him more catch and shoot chances sure would help.

OP, why are we single out one player , for a team loss?!

Yeah Brea didn’t play great against TX but opening a thread for that … common.

He was good when he won us on the stretch the TN game few days ago….

Also , how did you reach the conclusion Mark is soft? Cause he doesn’t scream at players like Calipari to cause them a turnover?

Did you attend team huddles, practices or locker room discussions?

Let’s don’t confuse someone being a gentleman and being positive with being soft.

I literally asked for people's opinions on how he would have fared with other teams. You could easily ask the same about many players, but a player's motivations and personality do factor in. Kobe wasn't the only one who contributed to the loss, to be fair.

I agree with you sometimes, but calling pope soft is crazy.
I think the effort has been lacking at times, and he could do a better job in-game addressing it. It may not be his style and I respect that, but I don't think letting your team take losses because you don't want to address something right then and there isn't good, either. I don't think there's a single person here who could argue that this team puts in real effort consistently. Maybe there is word other than "soft" to describe what we're seeing? But I created this thread to get people's opinions on what type of scenario Kobe would have seen on those other teams he was thinking of going to. I think it's a fair question, and if people don't care or don't want to post their thoughts on him with one of those teams, that's fair too.

If only Uconn added a similar transfer this off session from a midmajor that would be a good comparison here..

Oh well, that's how it goes here. Weird ass criteria and near-impossible expectations for UK sometimes.

(Ill give the answer, because it's clear people struggle to even look up simple things like Texas' basketball resume.. Aidan Mahaney. Remember him? Yeah if you think Brea has been been bad for us, go take a look at how he's doing)

My apologies.i misunderstood your post. You were asking about Kobe if would have played college ball. Yeah that’s an interesting question. I believe he considered UnC, Duke, Michigan and Villanova before going straight to NBA. He would been great .

Koby Brea that plays at Kentucky is a different type of player.

According to cats coverage x :
“Koby Brea finished 0-4 from the three-point line tonight, snapping his 39-game streak of making at least one, which also includes all 25 games with Kentucky this year.”

39 games where he makes at least one 3 , now that’s impressive. Also he scored a 3 in all other Kentucky games . That’s speaks volumes about his shooting ability. And like one famous Coach used to say , …. They are not robots ……or …. You don’t have to make them all but you can’t miss them alll….

I guess Koby is guilty for having one bad game. Regardless, I still love him as player and as a wildcat.

We all love him as a player and wildcat, but if you think putting up points is all that's necessary to not have a bad game....... seriously?

Lol...the lady is a good moderator. Throws out questions to stir conversation other than "player xxxxx is worthless.

I think the guy is what we see... tall kid with a great outside shot when it's falling but not a physical guy that enjoys driving to create his shot. Can play solid defense but in some way unsure of himself...likely because his whole career he has been told not to foul because the team needs his offense too bad. Really legit outside shooter but makes us feel he us leaving a lot on the table. At this point I doubt he would be different at any school, the lack of point guards brings out his shortfalls.
As far as the Mark Pope being soft thing I'm not in the locker room or individual talks so I really don't know if that's a perception vs reality thing.

Brea played 35 minutes the most in the team . In those he made his FT , which meant he drove and got foul, grabbed 4 rebounds, had 3 steels and no turnovers. If we look at his minutes in previous games for Kentucky, he is not used to log so many minutes. Tired legs affect the shot .
