I am clearly seeing the point. We don't have a single athletic freak on this team. We only have one big who consistently play above the rim and he doesn't start. We don't have a backup point guard and the last two games we have played without a point guard and managed to beat the 8th ranked team. Pope has really worked magic to get us to where we are. If the dog doesn't have any hunt in him, there isn't much you can do. We know we have a team made up of spare parts. This is nothing like losing to the Oaklands of the world while having a roster of 1st round draft picks.

This team has a wealth of shooters. But its drive game and its post game is iffy. It just seems to me that Kentucky is going to win it's going to do it by shooting and leaving off the post game and the driving game.
You act like this is the first game against an unranked team that we lost. I'm not happy but Arkansas played out of their ass and anyone could see this coming a mile away.
I don't consider any regular season game as a must-win game.
Now we lose to some unranked team in the tournament, that's another story.

Its post-game is not existent. The fact that Williams was able to score rather easily under the basket illustrates just how bad Cal's bigs are.

noah should have played over chandler. was he hurt? not subbing was dumb. we were tired.
williams was a warrior.
oweh had numerous chances to hit the shot to cut it to 4, with plenty of time left. he didn’t finish once.
not zoning played right into their hands. cal told them everything to the basket down the stretch and wagner put it away.
without butler we’re not getting out of the first weekend.
our guys played hard. ark played harder.
cal will use this moment to say “this is how good we should be” and they will go on to underperform as he did at kentucky. that they aren’t a tournament team is a joke.
sad for coach pope and our fans. we’ll probably have to wait a couple years for vindication. we may not beat them any time soon. would love another crack at them in the sect though.
we’re on a new path, no longer “unburdened” by that under preforming coach. we will play in march. they will be watching pre-draft commentaries.

One of the reasons why they shot the 3 so well was because of the fact we couldn’t defend them man to man. Getting beat off the dribble and the defense collapsing left guys open way too many times.
We are 0-5 against unranked power five teams. We are in 9th place in the SEC and are 5-5 in our last 10 games.

That means our guys aren't even being coached.
It is so refreshing to hear someone with common sense after a lose. We are fine. These "fans" are obviously traumatized or loved Cal and want to see us lose.
We fed off of it, then we quit playing perimeter defense, and passed like shit most of the rest of the game. Missed enough layups and fts, and never went to a zone, got so far behind that the bad calls/noncalls started to make a difference.
Hopefully our coach and team learns from this and plays every team afterward like it's ranked in the top 5.

Bad game plan, I don’t care how they were shooting you 1-3-1 Cal and you win bottom line. Terrible game plan.
I am not sure if you are serious, but it is a fact that Arkansas has better talent than we do. They are just missing coaches who know what to do with the talent. I fully expect Arkansas to go back to their losing ways as soon as they face other SEC teams that have the athletes to keep them from driving.
most of these guys are 4 year players. our lack of defense was known going in.
Tennessee shot horribly and we hit 15 3's at a 50% clip and they still had two possessions to tie the game. Defense has to improve or Pope will not last long here. Hope it improves this year.
So your game plan for ark would to not slack off? Sometimes a team plays out of their ass. Now I agree we should have never left big Z get a free look(s) but it's hard to stop a 7' 2" dude from getting a shot off. Once again, I'm not happy with any loss, but I'm not sure why this loss is more triggering than any other non ranked team we lossed to. My only real bitch is free throw shooting. That's an issue.

I'll take Mark Pope and UK losing to a Cal coached team if it means Cal is not coaching Kentucky every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

You guys will figure it out eventually, but with this defense, we're one and done in the NCAAT and I don't see how it will get any better, Pope is not a good defensive coach. In fact, we are the worst defense in all of the power 6 conferences. That's alarming.
Given what we just did to Tennessee, and given the undeniable importance of this game, I'd say Pope shit the bed, and I'm a fan of Pope, but this doesn't cut it and he should get no slack for losing this

Pope has never won an NCAAT game. Why do you think he gives us a reasonable chance to do so? We are in 9th place in the SEC with more losses coming. We will be a 7/8/9 seed in the tourney.
