I don't know. That is why you have to plan for that this week. Henderson didn't do that. We very well may pitch Logue. However, our NCAA life is on the line. Logue has done well, but I think the problem you have with him is that you cannot get more than 5-6 innings out of him. He has only gone over 5 innings one time this year IIRC. So, if Logue goes out there and gives us 4-5 then you still have to pitch 4-5 innings with your bullpen. That's something we'll likely need to preserve if we're going to make a deeper run in the SEC tournament. On the other hand, Beggs can go a complete game, or go 7-8 and then you don't have to use as much of your pen. Plus, like I said, we're playing for our lives. We went up 2 spots in the RPI due to our win today (might go back down after others play), but we're in a fight to get into the NCAA tournament. We need every single win we can get.
Right now we're in a race for 8th or 9th. Either way it is pretty much a certainty that we'll be playing Alabama in the first game in the 8/9 game. Alabama beat us in the series at the Cliff, so we need to get by them and improve our RPI. This will be hard as heck considering Alabama will practically be playing a home game in the middle of the afternoon in Hoover, Alabama. At that point we will have Cody there to face the number 1 team in the tournament. We could roll the dice and pitch Logue in his first SEC start, but I think that is a scary proposition. I'd much rather pitch Beggs and make sure that we get past Alabama. Then throw Cody against MSU/Florida/Texas A&M. At that point, if by some miracle we won, then we would have to make a decision on whether we wanted to throw Brown or Logue. Brown would be the logical choice, but he has struggled. You could possibly start him and then yank him for Logue at the first sign of trouble, or just start Logue. Either way, I think we need at least those two wins (and tomorrow) if we want to have a chance of making the NCAA tournament.
