Thanks man! Fortunately the UK website audio feed finally stopped with the chicanery so tragedy averted. Much rather just use the iHeart app at work, easier on my end.
UK gave up 1 run but got out of it with no more damage off of a liner to short where Ritter threw out the runner at first.
Gotta say... I'm a bit confused here... Hazelwood came in to pitch the 8th. Took him a lot to get out of the inning but he did without giving anything up.
Not sure why he's pitching today. Guess that takes him off Friday. Maybe he goes Sunday?

Does anything Ming does make sense? Having said that, always good to win the first game and they only gave up one run. Concerned the offense dropped off after a hot start.
Agree entirely, but not too worried about the offense. At least not anymore worried than I was. I think they have big power, but I'm not sure they'll be a great base hitting team.
We will see what happens with Hazelwood, but the fact that he threw 30+ seems to indicate to me that he's not pitching on the weekend. So... Ramsey? Are we going to be crazy and go with Strickland, giving us basically 3 freshmen on the weekend? I dunno. Maybe I'm just wrong and they felt fine with him having 30-40 plus a start.
Whatever it is, I'm not so sure he shouldn't be our Friday starter.
I am not sure if Plastiak takes 3rd permanently, but today certainly didn't separate him from anyone. Had an error and I don't think he had a hit.
First game though, and they haven't played a live game at KPP in 350 days, so it's hard to be too critical.
Maybe they think Hazelwood can give them around 60 pitches this weekend and wanted to get his feet wet before then. Who knows.
Maybe but this time of year most are on pitch counts and you don't want them to pitch too much. So, it's weird that he threw. Of course, Milwaukee shouldn't be a huge challenge, so maybe it's a good opportunity to get a young arm a start and see how they do
Derek Terry had an article on 247 and he predicted Hazelwood on Saturdays. Stupp Fridays and Lee Sundays. He’s usually close to the program I believe, so assume he’s got some inside info on that.
Could be, but it's weird he pitched today if so. But yea, looks like Stupp will be Friday. That's a strange decision to me.
Anu, Hill and Collett with hrs...surprised Estep is not at 3rd...Jordan still being listed on 2021 roster.
The defense again is a concern. Both were routine plays.
I didn't see many poor decisions on the bases or in the field as far as throwing to the wrong base etc. so that is good.
I thought our new catcher and SS were good defensively so thats big. I also love Cam Hill in CF as he goes all out.
Estep, to my knowledge, is still recovering from having had or having contact with someone who had, COVID. Now, that isn't to say that he will be back at 3rd after he recovers, but it is my understanding that he wasn't available yesterday due to the illness.
I just rewatched the game. Rhodes in right missed the cutoff man twice. The Plastiac and Collett errors were pretty routine plays. A better offense would have put more pressure on this defense. It is early but they definitely need to tighten things up. Hagenow seemed very good to me. In control and has a calmness and presence that says to me he's a winner. Holt Jones was inconsistent but did better the second inning. Hudepohl takes me back to my early days watching the Reds in the 60's and 70's. I'm looking forward to the season but want to see the defense improve. Ritter looked very nice at SS.
The series vs. Milwaukee will be fun to watch and their first series as well as ours got cancelled so they'll be starting their season Friday vs. us.
