Kentucky should cover Bowers

I wonder what his stats would look like if he played for Kentucky instead of Georgia 🤔

I have wondered that very thing, but not so much UK, but a coach who wanted to put up offensive stats, instead of defensive stats. UGA targeted him 14 times today, the majority in 2nd half. I think he should get 20 targets a game.

Break their QB in half and Bowers goes away. To win this game, at home, you have to not only out play Georgia but you have to out mean them.

We don't have anyone who can cover that guy and neither does anyone else.

Which is why it's a good thing that we play 3-3-5 with zone on the back end and have Afari and Wallace covering short zones.

Bowers' speed is a weapon. Our safeties will have to tackle well. With Walker and Silver pushing the pocket into Carson Beck's lap, we will see what happens. I may eat these words, but Beck hasn't looked invincible so far. We aren't going to shut Bowers out. We didn't shut Ricky Pearsall out, either.

The elephant in the room is that our starting WRs Key and Brown can do our football team a big favor by catching the damned football. We score more points and these other issues become less of a concern. While stipulating that Barion is helping the offense in other ways, these two guys are committing more drops than Verizon. Key has been a no-show and it's unacceptable. You tend to overlook it when we win, especially when Ray Davis rushes for >200 yards in the first half. But our QB is struggling, and a significant part if that is due to drops by Key and Brown. That dropped TD pass by Brown in the back of the end zone yesterday was inept. And Key killed a potentially important drive by dropping a first down catch when we needed it. They aren't focusing on their job. This has been going on throughout the month of September and has become a liability for our football team. I get it that our numbers are thin at outside receiver. But what is Woody doing about this? He should require Key to carry a football in his hands 8 hours a day so Dane and the football can become acquainted.

You would just get Vandagriff instead of Beck. But you have the right idea. Getting pressure on the QB, collapsing his pocket, and hurrying his decisions, are the first steps in neutralizing a talented group of receivers. For zone coverages to work, you have to hurry the QB. We hurried Graham Mertz yesterday, especially in the first half, and we got results. Hurrying Beck is one of the keys for us next Saturday. But there are others, not the least of which is lighting a fire under our passing game and somehow waking up Dane Key.

We should start a clandestine operation to get pro-UK folks onto the support staffs of other SEC programs. Whoever handles pre-game meals, etc. You slip a bunch of benzos and laxatives in Bower’s food & drink I doubt he’ll even dress.

Could you call Kirby and suggest he start doing that AFTER this Saturday? We'd be so appreciative if you did.

In 2020 Brad White had Wiggins cover Kyle Pitts man 2 man. Did pretty good before he got hurt.

I was just joking dawg, I don’t think any TE at Kentucky has been targeted 14 times in their entire career much less in one game, hence the Bowers stat line. If I had a vote he would get mine for Heisman 🍺

UK could well give Beck something he hasn't seen and something that even caused Brady problems on the rare occasions he faced it. Pressure up the middle in your face when you are trying to throw is a completely different animal.

This game could be in the hands of Walker, Hayes and Wallace.

Gotta hold him to 5 catches- 50 yrds. We can't let him get loose. Being able to pressure without the help of the LBers will be key

Nahhh. Let’s just do what we did against Pistol Pete. Let him get his and shut down everyone else!!
Doesn’t work that way in football. Object in football is keeping the other team out of the endzone. Can’t let him go off and get 3 or 4 scores
