Cal did not open practice often did he? I mean we did the summer trips and stuff but I don’t recall many summer stories from people who watched practice themselves.
I'm so freaking excited to have Kentucky basketball back!! Let's go!!
Curious to see who Pope has as the first group. Top 9-10 are so evenly matched! Not sure we’ll be able to tell even when the videos start coming out.
The Ncaa Allows four hours per week. As if they have a semblance of a governing authority anymore...
Pope said they will be doing three on three and four on four early. Said getting in shape will not be a problem and laughed about it. So would say our team will probably be in great shape when the season starts.
I just hope Pope and the team kills it this year and show what a real coach can do at UK.
The program will be more open and transparent than any time in the Cal era. The summer practice and general behind the scenes content is going to be absolutely awesome.
I've been conditioned to expect an 'injury' report by the weekend. Hope we get some circus free basketball.
He just talks like someone who loves players and loves the game. That's really been missing despite some buzz words.

This. Or if a player wasn't at practice and then Cal would say he hasn't seen him. Stupid crap like that is why I stopped listening to him years ago. Truly a used car salesman.

i know neither Pitino, BCG or Cal did

Some real insights on today's practice:
Wi.liams, Garrison and Carr are big boys/men, and the look of the team it's obvious they aren't kids. We will have a team of men and a few youngsters that'll learn from them. I'M EXCITEC!!!!!!
As part of camp we got to meet new strength and conditioning coach and your facility. Guy seems big into statistical analysis of jump testing, etc. He goes pretty far back with Pope and worked his way up from HS coaching to the Milwaukee Bucks. Pretty impressive.
Pope was very close to being an MD. He is going to get data and more data and more data. Then, he will track his decisions based on the data and look for trends. I think that will serve him well. I just hope he can find times to go against the data, because other people study data too and if you over emphasize being data driven, you can become predictable. We don’t want to be predictable. That is why the read and react is so important in his offense. It also won’t be fluid until mid season at best. You can tell people what to do and they may know what to do, but until it becomes second nature it can be defended!
