There they go. On to the pen. Would have liked to have scored before going to the pen, but glad to put pressure on them.
Mahan gets a fastball with two strikes and watches it pass. That really hurts. Collette has power for days. Need to get him hitting for average though. Hit him to get a base and load them with 2 outs. Squires also gets hit by a pitch and we score a run without a swing! 4-1 bases still juiced. We pinch run for Collette at second and Carson lines one up the middle to score two more!!! 6-1
Great hit by Carson!! Smart move to bring down Collette and bring in Lewis to help us score there.
London Ky. ( Carson ) comes thru Big Time ! 6-1 Cats, now don't give up a big bottom of the 6th !
Got to say... I wish we had some more consistent power threats, but just as good is the old saying, "Everybody hits."
Doesn't make much sense with us not having a consistent bullpen.
Ugh... this decision hurts me. Machamer struggling a bit. Got runners on second and third with one out. Terrible idea to take out Lewis in the heart of the lineup. Now we're going to Pop with one of Missouri's hottest hitters up, that just hit a home run.
It's interesting how much they are talking up the Missouri pitcher from last night. I know he helped them to win, but he also gave up 5 runs and but for hero performances from Harris and Bond he would have had a loss.
Strange use of our staff today, Pop was effective. Of course Salow is capable of a 3 inning save, but he may be needed against UofL on Tuesday.
Yep... the Louisville game is the weird part of this. That is a huge game and we need to be sure Salow is good to go in that one.
Tweet from UK baseball account said great effort from Lewis in spite of being under the weather. So that must be why he was yanked when he was. Strange that Pop was pulled when he was. IMO, UK needs to be able to get more outs out of him with how limited the bullpen depth is.
Agree. Maybe he will limit the pitches and get easy outs here.
Great effort by Lewis. I don't know... I feel like we could have pushed him to get another three outs and lessen the pressure on our pen, but I don't know how sick he is.
Salow does end up being a bit more democratic and gets three outs without throwing too many pitches.
Salow comes back out and gets three outs to end the game and help UK take the series. Gives up just one hit to Bond in the three innings pitched. Good series but I really feel like we could and should have swept them.
Great to get the win and take the series. Could have swept, if we had used good sense and not give Harris any thing to hit out of the park.
Pompey was fantastic again in another road series. Defense has now gone something like 34 innings without an error.
Definitely good to see defense beginning to get shored up. We will need it this upcoming week.
Good series win. Agree that it feels like the Cats missed a chance for a sweep, but all in all, I have to pleased with winning 4 of first 5 SEC series. Schedule is toughening up in a big way starting Tuesday, but at least these next tough games are home. Here's hoping Thompson has a quality start and UK can top UofL for the first time in a while. Hopefully UK fans will come out and give some good crowds against UofL and LSU.

Remaining schedule is feast and famine. This week looks like a killer with UL and LSU, but unlike our last killer week when we went 1-3 against UL and MSU, all four are at home. Would really like to go at least 2-2, but hoping for 3-1 or better.
After next week, we go to Columbia to face a reeling South Carolina club and then get the two easiest SEC series of the year with UGA and UT, and then on the road to close out in Gainesville, potentially with a division or league title on the line.

South Carolina is reeling. They go to Florida next week. They started out sweeping @Tennessee, took 2 out of 3 from Alabama, and have lost every series since. They already lost the series at home against MSU. Looks like they might get the last game.
Agreed, though they have talent, tradition, and a good home field advantage. Never take for granted a series win against them down there.
