Kentucky Fans Better Get Their NIL Act Together

I’ll wait to hear it from the players and see what happens. Jones is not a reliable source.

however, we will never compete with schools like ut in football NIL money. And there football money will help there basketball NiL And make them competetive with us on the court.
sad times we live in But if theres no cap then in all honesty “college” athletics are dead As we know them. We’re just watching a knock off pro league
I have a question. You say cap earnings. Ok. Fine. Sort of the whole reason was it made legal was because the courts ruled you can’t keep someone from earning money off their own potential but my question is do you not think if they cal it to say 100k a year or whatever that we won’t just have boosters go back to what they did before and supplement that under the table? It’ll be even easier because then players can spend and do with money and claim that’s just what they used their NIL cap money for. I think Pandora’s box has been opened and can’t be shut

You can’t solve the problem. Big schools will get there’s and others won’t. You either break away from those schools and do your own thing or watch schools like tn and bama absolutely destroy us in money and recruiting every year.

simply put, there is no solution. And to be honest it will make a school like UK unable to ever compete. It is what it is
This has always been the case.
It's just that now, it is somewhat legal.

UK will never compete in SEC football ( for championships) for only one reason.

The big money boosters and the AD don't want to. If they did, it would happen.

Ummm, the Vols have been more than competitive on the court for some time, hoss. Wake up.

I hate to be a jerk but posts like this are truly ridiculous. I am a fan, it’s not my responsibility to worry about an NIL to keep players at a school. Nothing wrong with helping if you can, but acting like it’s the fans responsibility to keep players at a school and to fund an NIL is laughable
When we lose players to schools that are paying (i.e. every team in the SEC besides us and Vandy) I don't want to see you complaining on this board again. Cause it will happen

Yeah it probably will happen and nothing is going to change that. The rich folk need to step up. I'm not paying a penny for a bunch of dudes that won the genetics lottery.

I don’t care if we lose the entire team and every game next year, it’s still not my responsibility or yours. In fact, a collective is just another name for boosters buying recruits and is not even what the NIL is supposed to be for. You need some perspective my guy

You must not follow college athletics very close. Your thinking is archaic

Since the NIL deal is less than a year old, it’s impossible to be archaic … also, it is not common thought that a fanbase should pay a kid to go to or stay at a college …. To assume so is ridiculous and completely irrational

If we had a exciting style of play and was aggressive on both sides I would give
This play not to lose crap drives me nuts

I don’t disagree. The difference is, if those under the tables are caught it should be set up to be an automatic death penalty for a program. No post season for at least 4 years.

id cap the earnings, have all schools agree to let an entity, I dont care if the ncaa is it or not, to have full control of disciplinary issues and if you get caught cheating, aka tenn with McDonald’s bags, they wouldn’t be having the year they’re having because they’d just not be getting back eligible and capable of giving out schollys.

if it’s a booster without the schools knowledge than the booster must be barred from all activities and the property forever. The student athlete must never play a game at the college level again.

unless you’re a dick, the Tennessees of the work will keep cheating. Kansas and lville don’t care because they know there’s no repricussions.

under what I just laid out the players get a 100K if they’re worth it, and then free college which is worth more than a 100K.

thats more than enough and in turn if you’re caught cheating, you are absolutely screwed. No exceptions

So is it fair to say we should just not worry about football at all or leave the sec for a shittier conference? If everyone already accepts we will never win the sec why should fans ever attend games Or even watch?

Go look at other schools. Look at SEC schools and then look at Mitch.

The middle aged conservative white man syndrome isn’t going to do UK any favors.

Yep . When it comes down to that I can gladly walk away from college athletics . I’ve pretty much lost interest in college basketball already. I can do the same with football.

You are 100% correct.

Hate to tell you, but while I don't think Jones really has basketball sources now, he does have football sources. He's close to the staff, Morrow in particular. So when he said how upset the staff and players were about Cal's basketball school comment, I doubt he's making that up. The coaches bring recruits to his restaurant and the coaches/players do on air interviews with KSR. Does that mean Jones is correct all the time? No, but he's a pretty reliable source when it comes to the football program. If he's saying they're upset over Mitch's tepid response to NIL, I'd listen.

Not trying to be ugly or a smart butt here but I think when the courts ruled grown men (over 18) have a right to make money off their nil they can’t really cap it. We don’t cap what you can earn or anyone else off of freelance work or endorsement deals and they can’t cap what these young men can earn. NIL isn’t even administered from the school. Those are deals with people and companies outside of the school with the athletes. People saying cap it must not agree with capitalism and believe in communism as far as making money. Our country was kinda founded on the opposite principal about dictating things like that. Sort of the whole point of the land of the free and all….

No. Not at all. Football drives the Athletic Department financial bus. All other programs benefit from SEC Football.

It is just a shame we do not have an AD that will put the emphasis on building a championship FB program in the SEC.

Money can get it done, so it can be done at UK, also.

What needs to happen is to hire the right AD that will commit to building and maintaining a championship level FB program regardless of what it takes.

And that might include pushing the envelope on NIL and recruiting. It is obvious the NCAA is powerless to enforce any kind of limits on NIL.

It is time to bring our FB program into 2022 and I don't think we have the leadership in place to get that done.

But it needs to happen real soon or we will be permanently buried at the bottom of the league probably forever.

Fans have to demand better from the AD.

What do you think about the BBNIL website? If you don't like it, what would you change about it?

Neither is your irrationality or refusing to actually understand what I am saying in favor of your own point of view. UK sports is not my financial responsibility. If I am going to donate money it’s going to be the poor, to fighting disease, to fighting poverty, for medical research or other areas that actually make a difference in this world and something that is actually meaningful and important to society…. But hey I’m just a middle aged white man so what do I know right?

Ummm....in case you haven't been paying attention, Rick Barnes and UT owns Cal's butt.
UT 6-3 over last 9 games over UK. Barnes leads
Cal 10-7 since coming to UT.
Cal, like CMS needs to figure out how to get his basketball team competitive with UT once again.

The difference is Cal has more talent than UT most years. CMS NEVER has more talent than UT.

Right, we need strippers and prostitutes for recuits, fake classes, and pay for play for recruits! Enough of this clean program business. Definitely not doing us any favors besides the best 5 year run in modern history and last year having the best recruit class in school history since there have been rankings. Who follows the rules, has morals, values, and standards in 2022? DITCH MITCH!

He's pretty much driven our program into the ground the last 5 years. Please bring back the glory days pre Mitch.

What do you think about the BBNIL website? If you don't like it, what would you change about it?
I know nothing about that site.

What I do know about UK NIL is that Mitch will absolutely NOT ALLOW CMS to use it as an incentive in RECRUITING, where UT, Bama, TA&M, Auburn, Arkansas, MO, USC and probably others use it to recruit players with promise of fixed $$$$ amounts if they sign with them.

I also see UK BB players are well taken care of, so is the website set up for all UK athletics combined?

If so, who determines which players get what??

With the coaches not being allowed to have input, I am pretty sure there are built-in inequities in the program. But, like I said, I don't know and not sure anyone on the outside really knows how it is being run.

But, I can also tell that from that last spat, Cal and BB players seem very happy and CMS an FB seem to have problems. Could it be NIL??

Look at our recruiting ranking in FB. Watch the portal. I am afraid it is going to get really ugly for CMS and the UK FB program in the near future.

I don't think CMS will hang around and watch it burn. JMO.

Stop it.
No one is arguing that Mitch hasn't finally helped improve the FB program over the past decade, but we are in a very different place than we were 10 years ago.

Hard work and player development will no longer necessarily result in building a championship program.

Like it or not, today's best players are going to follow the NIL money, and if you think MB is doing enough in that area for CMS and the football program, then you must be related to MB, or you are really misinformed about the reality of the current situation.

He will absolutely not allow his coaches to blatantly cheat. If you want to cheer for a dirty program Tennessee and Louisville are both right down the road.

Also LOL at how utterly clueless yall are, yet you guys are making all these ignorant claims about NIL. Who determines which players get what? This us a serious question from one of these NIL experts. The business, collective, or fan decides which player they want to do an NIL deal with. You dont know this basic info yet yall lie and claim UK decides who gets what.

You guys are a complete joke, yall can't even get your lies straight. Just stop lying and say you want to cheat and be a dirty program because others are doing it.

We had our best recruiting class ever way back in... 2022. 🤡

You are either willfully.......never mind.
Have a good night. Kiss Mitch goodnight, too.

What is our recruiting ranking this year in November when we don't have a full compliment of scholarships to give out? Not sure. LOL at how big of a simpleton you are.

LOL at the fire the AD for not wanting to blatantly cheat guy calling someone else a troll. Good luck with your dirty program crusade.
