Time for the rubber match. Huge game today. Squires behind the plate, Carson in right, and Reks in left.
Mahan needed that after two 10th inning errors! Picked himself up there.Kentucky wins on a walk off wild pitch in the 10th. Mahan hit a solo home run to tie the game up and then UK loaded the bases for the wild pitch to win! Great game!
Need to go KVillegas next weekend and sweep that filthy, low down they some snicker inside the pumpkin Puke orange...GOCATSI was going to come on here as the Debby downer but I just can't do it. Awesome job to come back twice and beat the number one team in the nation and take the series.
I think if Brown doesn't get it done this Friday, you may see Justin Lewis in the weekend rotation.Coty pitched great today, those 3 early runs that Florida got really were only 2 because the 3rd run was a fluke. If Brown can be consistent, this Wildcat team can make some noise in the SEC and be in position to host a regional. I expect Dylan Dwyer toget a shot at Mid-Week and then be a candidate to get in the weekend rotation if Brown continues to struggle.
They won series against UGA last weekend and would be great to win series next weekend against filthy orangeBatCats seem to perform well the past several seasons vs. the UFs, LSUs of the conference only to turn around and give it right back vs. the UTs and UGAs of the league. Or maybe that's just my perception.

The average attendance for this weekend series was 2,561 for the 3 games, including 3,071 on Saturday. If the team keeps it up and the weather cooperates, we could see some really big time games this season at the Cliff !
Got to give Mahan some credit. He went 3 for 5 yesterday. The kid is showing that he can hit. He's not a 4 hole hitter, but he is definitely great in about the 7 hole. If only he could stop making errors... he's up to 17.
He has to shore up his defense. 17 errors is unacceptable. Maybe he needs to move to another position or DH. UK needs his bat but not his glove.
I think it would be crazy, but if I were the coach I might just try to put McNeil at first and White in the outfield. DH Mahan. Then you have Shelby/Marshall/Becker and figure out where you want each of those. Not sure how Becker will do as a short stop, but it can't be worse than 17 errors.
If I were the coach that would be what I did this week. We have two midweek games to play around with and if it works out during those games then I'd try it this weekend against Tennessee.
You know honestly this isn't a bad idea to try during the midweek games. The one issue that I have with moving White to the outfield is you're moving a really good first baseman. I wonder how Becker would do at short.
Keep preaching it!!!! Completely agree with this...somebody at UK needs to wake up just like with football because we gave the best fans in the countryIf the team were better, and if UK builds a better, and bigger ballpark, I am convinced the potential is there to draw 3500-5000 fans on a regular basis, especially as SEC play starts and the weather warms up.
Anyone feel like Lewis may be more important in the role he is currently playing vs becoming a starter? Seems like he can be available to bridge the gap from starter to closer (if not close it out himself) for the whole weekend (multiple games). If he were to move to a starting role, do they have enough talent left in the pen to get the game to the 9th?
I think that is a great question. I think it is imperative to have a 4th person as a starter and UK needs to develop that person. It is very likely that you'll need a 4th pitcher sometime in the post season. So, you can either rely on your midweek starter (who has struggled), you can pitch by committee, or you can do your best to find someone who will fit in that role when needed. I think that Lewis would be a pretty solid candidate, but he's done a pretty great job of coming in and eating up innings, and even keeping other teams from scoring. He's only given up 1 run in 18 innings of work. So, he could be a great one to close the door on opposing teams, and to get you to Hjelle to close it out. We also have Strecker, who has kind of quietly had a very solid year. He's also given up just 1 run in 15.2 innings of work. I personally think Strecker might be a very good candidate to be that 4th starter, but we have to have someone else step up out of the bullpen. You cannot have just one main guy. Logan Salow is almost there, but he started the year pretty shaky. Dwyer has pitched well this year, but I get the sense that Henderson doesn't trust him considering that Henderson hasn't used him much on the weekend (at least to my memory he hasn't). However, those are our main options. So, we have to develop this bullpen to be deeper if we want to make a run in the post season.
