KD Not Amused at Manning's Attempt at Humor

What.. seriously? The concept is not the same because the stakes and parameters are different.

Kentucky is coming off of an NIT year when Cal moved over (he had to leave Memphis anyways). How the hell do you equate that to Durant joining a team that just made history? I get that both guys took the next step forwards, to be happy, realize their dream, etc. etc. etc.. But Cal had to work for this. Manning had to work for his. Durant saw easy street.

This is a horrifically bad take, man.

There are similarities to be fair.

Cal came to UK to be able to recruit the best of the best and win multiples titles (his words) despite proving he had the potential to win a title at Umass and at Memphis. It would be much easier to do this at UK and its not even debatable.

KD went to GS to play with the best of the best and win multiple titles (his words) despite having the potential to actually win one at OKC. Once again, a much easier path to a title.

But give credit where it's due, neither UK 2012 or GS 2017 titles happen without Cal or KD making the move.

Of course there are *some* similarities.. But the bottom line is that Cal/Peyton had to work for the title. They were going to promising situations but ones that still needed work. Cal still had to recruit, and still had to get the team together. Peyton still had to run the team, make sure he could still play with neck problems..

Durant essentially scoured the college library, found a bunch of students with a completed thesis, and joined in the night before the due date.

FWIW.. if Durant joined any team other than GSW or Cavs.. this wouldn't be a story at all. I have no problem jumping ship to a better spot for the reasons Keyser said.. hey, Lebron did it. But Bron, Cal and Peyton all joined something that still needed work.

Golden State needed no work. It was a finished 4.0-worthy thesis.

Saying KD essentially didn't have to work for a title is a stretch. He was the finals MVP! If he had played a small role in winning the title, I might concede your point...but he LEAD the Warriors. The Warriors would not have won without him this year imo and despite a historical year, they didnt win it without him last year.

There was work to be done in each situation, how much of course is debatable.

GSW really didn't need him. They beat Cleveland 4-1 or 4-2 if it weren't for Greens suspension and an utter collapse. Heck, it might have even been a sweep (forget when Green was suspended).

Not much work for a team that won 73 games, if you ask me. Not taking away from Durant, and also not disagreeing that he wasn't the best player during those finals.. but it's not like Klay and Green don't make the game super easy from a defensive standpoint.

Kentucky isn't winning the title as is... neither were the Broncos. At the end of the day, that's the difference. No one is saying KD isn't good or didn't contribute to the team. People are questioning his mentality behind the whole thing.. to join a rival, bail on a contending team, after mocking Lebron and others for teaming up.

I didn't watch the video but didn't realize Chelsea Manning had much of a sense of humor after all he she's been through.

I think you could make the argument that Clevland would have one the first Series if not for Love and Kyrie getting injured. They still made a series out of it with Lebron and the bench. I would also say that without KD, Cleveland would have won the title this year. He was the diffrence and the only player they couldn't stop.

Are you a UK football fan? Serious question.

Not much of a football fan at all. The game is a little slow for me. Like most, I watch the big games to include NCAA NC. I do follow UK football (how they are doing) and "start cheering" when they are making noise in the SEC. I've been following more the past cpl of years, for obvious reasons. And a few predict them to make some real noise this coming year.

But to honestly answer your question, no...I don't think that makes me a UK Football fan.

On a side note, my intent was his PRO career. Always took the high road it seemed. As for UK Basketball, I'm one frivolous sick puppy...pacing the floor with no appetite in close games. Have to walk away from the TV on bad calls while my wife looks on in disbelief!

As an ardent UK football fan, It took me a loooong time to separate the UT Peyton from the Denver/Indy Peyton. Same with Tebow and UF. For those who are a relent college fb fans like me, it's more of an emotional game and bitterness seems more intense.

I've lightened up on him over the yrs and several things made me. "Ok" with Peyton.

1. He's Archies son
2. He's Eli's brother (ole miss)
3. Jacob Tamme
4 Wesley Woodyard for the Broncos
5 most recently Danny Trevathans performance
6. That funny United Way spoof
7. He doesn't take himself too seriously anymore.
8. Budweiser.

I don't see many people in here whining about it. I myself even said that I'm not sure Peyton is better than Durant in their respective sports. But it's funny to hear someone with that take who then calls out a HOF quarterback's arm. If we have a problem with Durant, you certainly have an axe to grind with Peyton..

The problem is you're equating this to what Cal and Peyton did, and it's not even close. Many reasons why, and many posters have said as much.

I'd imagine it goes Cleveland, GSW and GSW.

73 wins. That same team was going to win just as much the next season. They didn't need Durant to beat Cleveland either year, IMO. And while I was rooting for Cleveland (I dislike Curry and Green much more than I dislike Durant).. it's clear the 1st series was gifted to them.. and the 2nd series was a damn travesty.

And if you want to debate whether or not Green should have been suspended, fine. But answer this.. if Green doesn't get suspended last year, does Cleveland even win 2 games, let alone 3 or the series? Simply put, that team is and was good enough to beat Cleveland. A collapse, a suspension and the NBA squeezing more games out of a 5 game series.. is what got in the way.

Why so mad?

Personally I think Peyton crossed the line and cut a little too close to the quick. My Momma taught me that if everyone isn't laughing, it isn't a joke. It's an insult.

"It's an insult". Yes it is, thus the term Roast. That's what roasts are. You slam someone hard. I've seen a lot worse than this one. That's what happens at a roast. The comments were tame compared to others you see in almost any roast.

Yes internet tough who gets super mad at everything, I'm a snowflake.
my own little stalker...how sweet.
you cannot take any constructive criticism, you lie, you insult and you love to create strawman arguments...the occasional good post from you is not worth reading your other lame rhetoric.
you are ignored
good day, snowflke

You just replied to me like 3 times in this thread, I said nothing to you initially. Not to go all 8 year old, but you started it, but I'm the stalker? I guess that makes sense when you're a clown. BTW, you could have ignored me from the get go instead of jumping into this thread and trying to score cool guy points.

Agree. I even 'liked' your post. Except is wasn't a Roast, right? Durant wasn't the guest of honor. And the edge to the 'humor' apparently did not amuse him. Just my opinion. I thought it was a low blow. (And I'm a Lebron fan.)

F KD if he cannot take a joke!! I mean WTf I hate that kind of attitude.. Dude must be a strait bitch if he can't handle that!! That is why I hate pro sports these Prima Donnas just turn Into mental midgets and think everyone is below them!!

Simple.
GS winning championships without KD.
Denver not winning championships without Manning.

Yeah he didnt throw for 50 TD and 5000 yards with a noodle arm.

Yes he did. There is a lot more to being a QB than a strong arm.

The reasons I have always detested Peyton are
A. He gives me the absolute creeps. I have seen sick people. If he isn't one of them he is good at mimicry.
B. He was the ultimate choke artist. Dating back to losing to Florida 4x and blowing the NCG against Nebraska.... The fact that UT won the year he left with Tee Martin should have told you all you needed to know..... He got very lucky facing an even bigger choke artist in Rex Grossman while his team carried him.... The Broncos situation was even more absurd.....

I give him credit for being the greatest regular season QB in history by far..... But while other players stepped up their game in the playoffs Peyton had nowhere to go. He was already at 100%.

1/2 TD/Int in games that mattered.

Sorry to be that guy, but on cat paw you gotta be able to spell it correctly. On here, it's pre-madonna, as though it's madonna before she was famous. Please carry on.

The only thing different is Durant received finals MVP and Peyton was lucky to have the leagues beat defense on his team
Denver's defense was top rated cause Peyton kept the offense on the field and the D rested. Know the game.

But you do lose sports IQ by spending so much time conversing with Zipp.

Manning didn't win anything in Denver other than riding coattails to that one Super Bowl when he couldn't play. Durant was Finals MVP.
And Durant wasn't riding coattails? The D was always on durant and focused on stopping him and not someone like Curry or Thompson. Sounds good.

Did we watch the same manning in the playoffs that year? Maybe you should look up his stats or better yet try to rewatch the actual games. He could hardly move.

No doubt Peyton is one of the best quarterbacks to play but he didn't look like it his last playoff run.
