It's fine coming here to express anger and frustration, to voice concerns. But the tone of some here seem to want Pope gone already, not even giving him a fair chance. Coach pope understands in intimate detil everything were saying and has expressed himself accordingly, and taken full responsibility for his faults and flaws and where he needs to do a better job. It's absolutely AMAZING the man even goes so far as to say he "didn't understand his assignment" and other things he has said and ways he has worded things so as to express his own realization of shortfall for Kentucky fans.
Please, anyone, if you can point to the time when the last coach did that (if ever?) here?
THAT is the kind of man we want and need to coach our team. Not some guy there for the paycheck because his name is one that people associate success with.
That doesn't give you a lifetime pass, as he felt it did. Like some kind of given and he was no longer accountable nor needing to accept responsibility in public and showing some humbleness and humility in his position as coach at Kentucky.
Coach pope has been incredible at putting this thing together this season, for the results already worth it in my humble opinion, and I think he can still have a fabulously successful season even with just a modicum of additional success this particular season.
I know I'll take away as a huge positive, that dUKe win. The win vs the zags and the great coaching he did in those games. Getting us to hold on (so far, so good!) with the all time wins lead. The big win against UT and Florida and on the road at the Hump.
but more than that, how he was on a cellphone after the big Tennessee win and talking to a grandmother, or him going into the stands at the hump to talk to the UK fan in the wheelchair.
it's THOSE THINGS I CAN ALREADY POINT TO AND SAY "WE'RE FINE. We're in great hands and good shape.
The world NEEDS more people like Mark pope in it. And if you really think he's soft and weak and is "too nice of a guy" whatever that means .... then all I need do is look back when he played here to KNOW ... that aint true at ALL.
we've already got some nice feathers in that cap for the season with more to come, I am sure. And if we can get really healthy ...
I like our team. I'll stick with Coach pope and Kentucky. Those other people can go cheer for the Hogs and their savior CCC ... in the ... cbit?!??
