Josh Jackson to Visit Maryland Unofficially, Arizona, Kansas Officially http://zagsblog.com/articles/josh-jackson-to-visit-maryland-unofficially-arizona-kansas-officially/…

“When school starts we’ll start to take some of the official visits during his senior year,” Jones said. “I know Arizona [will likely get a visit]. I haven’t really talked to Josh about it because I don’t really want him focusing on it. I’m sure Kansas, we’ll take that visit.”

Asked if Kentucky was involved, Jones said, “No, not at all.”

Jackson could decide in the fall or the spring

That's too bad. I am sure there are reasons UK is staying away, but Jackson is an incredible prospect. He would be a ton of fun to watch.

Jackson's the most intriguing recruit in my opinion. Assuming there is nothing to worry about this kid, it's a bit disappointing we aren't involved.

It wouldn't be out of the question that maybe Jackson was not a fan of Kentucky, it happens.

Has to be some reason Cal is not after him so all good, but he is the top player in the class imo..no debate

Cal may know that UK is not an option and chose not to pursue , I'm fine with whatever because when Cal misses or doesn't pursue it looks better in hindsight more times than not .

I think we're all but a lock for Bridges at this point.

The front court is what I'm concerned about. There aren't a lot of great front court played in this class. 1 of them is from North Carolina and likely Duke bound another seems enamored with Duke as well.

The last one seemingly has strong AAU ties to another program.

Wynyard, Humphries and Willis very well could be our front court rotation in 2016-17

My friend, you tend to be a bit pessimistic. 6-10 Killeya-Jones is almost a lock for UK. 6-11 Bolden is a possibility and IF 6-11 Ayton reclassifies he is a very big fan of UK/Cal.

We shouldn't be the ones worrying about Cal not recruiting this kid. Jackson should be!!!

UK's 2016-17 front court could possibly be:

7-0 Humphries
6-10 Wynyard
6-10 Marcus Lee
6-9 Willis
6-10 Killeya-Jones
6-7 Miles Bridges at the SF

Cal is also really going after 6-9 Wenyen Gabriel and telling him he will play on the wing.

If Bridges comes to UK, I could live with Humphries, Willis, and Wynyard representing our frontline simply because Bridges could be UK's stretch four. Rim protection would likely suffer but we'd still have a pretty decent squad if some of the elite wings end up in Lexington.

Either something's up or he knows we don't have a chance. Wouldn't be the first time for either.

Don't think it's that we don't have a chance--Cal has pursued several guys that we knew were going elsewhere, is even doing it in 2016 with a guy like Dennis Smith. If we're not even involved, there's something else. If I were a betting man, or happened to follow along with this recruitment closely, I might look at the source of the quote.

Kid probably wants the royal treatment. I don't get the impression that Cal begs anyone to come play for him. The royal treatment is your scholarship offer.

If Cal isnt involved, its for good reason. Maybe its because the kid expressed up front he was not interested. Doubtful, but possible. Either way, If Cal isnt involved - thats good enough for me.

Rumors around that Killeya-Jones is likely to be our 1st commit of that class. Even if not, just trust in Cal. He will get the players. If I even had an once of doubt left in my body in Cal's recruiting magic, it has since been dispelled after this off season. The guy worked wonders getting this team together and still might be done. No worries here my friend!

Maybe Cal is staying way because this kid said he was NOT interested in UK? Why waste time then? It's probably nothing more insidious than that. I, personally, appreciate Josh saying he's not so we all don't sit here getting strung along with the will he or won't he threads.

Just sayin' ;)

I found it funny that he punches the guy and then "runs back into the crowd" as if he was trying to be swift and sneaky about it.

Dude is 6'8". Pretty sure when a 6'8" guy punches someone at a club, half of the damn club will see it.

Dude has a problem maybe that the season Coach Cal not recruiting him.

Meyer has said in the past that Jackson never plays college basketball...
I feel like I've read that too. Don't remember why. Maybe his grades or something. Either way, whenever Cal has backed away or just not recruited a kid and we didn't know why, there ended up being a really good reason that we saw later. Bennet, Walker, Quincy Miller etc. There are enough guys in the 6'5"-6'7" range that we will be fine at the wing, whoever we get.

Jackson was held back in the eighth grade but is old enough to be in the Class of 2015.

LMAO there is 0 chance that ever happens buddy . ZERO. But just so you know having a front court with 2 future NBA players ain't all that bad . No , our front court will something like Killayea-Jones , Willis at PF , Bolden or Ayton , Humphries at C and then Wynyard will play a little of both spots . Hell Lee might come back as well. So no there are no worries in the front court . If I had to guess our team in 16 i would say

PG- Fox/Hawkins
SG- Monk /Fultz or Alkins /Mulder
SF- Bridges/Matthews
PF- Killeya-Jones/Wynyard /Willis
C- Ayton or Bolden / Humphries

Great point. Cal struck out on about seven or eight guys last year in a very public way, and still ended up with the #1 recruiting class. Insane.

Yep, not sure why some people still haven't learned to trust in Cal when it comes to recruiting. Do we UK fans still need more evidence that Cal knows what he is doing and that he will have us sitting well at all positions in each class, really??? I have no clue as to the reasons why UK isn't recruiting him but I'm sure not going to start doubting Cal's decision making at this point, he's been complete genius in recruiting.

Dream On Dreamer!

You don't think it's realistic? Jackson is considered a KU/UA race. Ferguson is considered a KU/Alabama race. I will admit, we were the early leader for Bolden, but not sure how that stands now that Duke has offered. But, if Ayton reclassifies, word is that he's a big KU lean, so that would be a great consolation prize.
