Jordan Burks/Big Z!!

Man Cal has some decisions to make. It’s the time of year we usually shorten the roster but Burks, Z, Bradshaw, and Edwards all showed me something tonight.
At minimum, Tre now has some competition and can’t be laying eggs like he did the past two games. He’s one of the biggest factors in both Ls

Tre laid eggs for about the last 4 games. Absolutely criminal that another kid wasn't getting some of his minutes, especially Z. Z can do everything Tre can do at 7'2". He displayed that again tonight.

Nice to see others step up, but Mitchell was hampered by his back the last 2 games.
Early in the year I was a Mitchell fan. After watching Film for the last 3 games in Dec,thru 2nd week in January. I recognize as much as I thought he was a steady glue guy, he flat out was awful on defense. It appeared he literally didn't care.

I thought Burks proved that early in the year but as usual Cal plants him on the bench. He gave us so many good minutes early in the year.
Agreed. But Cal does this every year. Guys like Burks come in and are productive and never see the floor again. Then he overplays guys like Mitchell, who get hurt, and are never the same again.

Burks looked like a completely different guy out there.

In the past he looked like a new born baby deer that wasn't sure what to do. Last night, he looked confident and decisive.

Also, am I imagining things, or does he look like he's put on some muscle? His arms looked a lot bigger to me.

Vandy is really bad....not a good yardstick to measure performance...wait and see what these guys do against a team that plays defense. You will probably see much worse statistics.

I get it- but also this is the same Vandy team that Alabama was only able to beat by 3 points, and Tennessee was losing to by 6 at the half.

I know they haven't won anything all year, BUT they have not been dismantled at all like they were last night.

Only reason both played minutes or will is due to injury or fouls . No slight at them but you can't play 11 players a game and if full strength Burks is 11th man Z is likely 10th man . I would not rank out players that way but its apparent Cal does. I would go platoons but Cal is scared to death of going platoons after he thinks it hurt recruiting. Even though he went 38-1 with it.

Amazing game from both of them!

We are just a better team when they are on the floor.

Burks' activity, hustle, defense, rebounding, etc. etc.

We are just better with him on the floor IMO, it's wild.
Burks will play a handful of minutes Saturday. Then even less next game and zero after that.
We have seen this movie before.
Cal will play his 5 stars that were promised minutes.
He isn't going to play 11 players. If they ever all say they are available at the same time again
Big Z is a force on offense. But he is going to foul out in 15 minutes playing time.

If this team is going to have any chance, the rotation and players used in the Vandy game is the key. Burks and Z need more minutes if you want to play defense. If you play aggressive defense (don't know if we can) you cannot play so hard it effects your offense. An experienced rotation may take us farther than we think.

Might be the last extended action we see of Burks in a Kentucky uniform. Hope I’m wrong. I’ve had the feeling all year that he will leave and try to make his way up through the G-League. That I could understand some, but if he transfers it will just be depressing.

Problem is that we are 6 deep at PF/C and there are a combination of 80 minutes to around.

Not playing Adou is hard enough, but then add Burks to the PF mix (which is great for us by the way), then it's even more difficult.

Can say Burks should play more, but then that also functionally means you play Mitchell and Adou less. Mitchell obviously hasn't been in peak form the past few games, but has also been one of our most important players this season.

Yeah go ahead and mark down February 6th is the last time we seen these two players. It's like it never happened I guess.
Bunch of bullshit
