Seems like a bad dream now, doesn't it? Hope he's enjoying his 18 minutes per game and 15.5 points (um, Cuonzo, don't you think if a player scores almost a point a minute, he should be in the game more?), and having literally nobody watch them beat up on Rice and UC Santa Barbara.

We'll stick to our nationally televised, NBA arena beatdowns of the #5 media darling, thank you very much.

Cal has blown out two chumps, why play him more than need be? And the kid clearly wanted more than basketball.

Great athlete, but I don't like guards/wings who can't shoot in Cal's system. It gets old watching our team have to play against zones every single game because we can't knock down threes.

You know this kids that passed on UK last year have to looking at what UK is doing and having 2nd thoughts. The way Cal is recruiting kids who want to play for UK had better get on board early.

I'm sure Ingram was glad last night :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good thing Monk is a good shooter then.

BINGO, watched him in a couple of All-star games, he had the shooting touch of a brick mason. Great athlete, but has to find ways to score, not a shooter at all.

Actually seen Brown throw up a lotta bricks too and most likely will but after 2 games he is hitting 3-7 from three for 42%. I expect that to drop a good 10% or more though.

Its a long list of guys who decided to go elsewhere instead of playing for Cal. I don't expect to hear many regrets, and we probably will see most of them down the road either still in school or trying to make a NBA roster.

Always interested to hear how former recruits are doing at other schools, including Wiltjer.

It's worth pondering, to what extent are coaches (Martin and Self) sand-bagging their recruits in an effort to grab another year out of them? If Brown wasn't injured, and he's scoring 15ppg in 18 minutes, why is he not getting 35 mpg?

Someone made a good point in another thread, that MichST. would not be starting a player like Skal, and that only a coach like Cal would. A lot of coaches seem like they are holding players back, for whatever reason.

No reason to knock the kid. He'll do well at Cal and I'm looking forward to him lighting up Yooklah and Zona on a few occasions this season.

I'm hoping Zona tops Cal this year. Sean Miller is on my short list of coaches who I think could be a decent replacement for Cal whenever he decides to leave.

You might want to rethink that. Three words: Michael Kidd Gilchrist

He caused one heckuva crazy Friday night on here... when the word came out that he was going to announce his decision after his prom, and that he had called Cal. We were all giddy, until we started to realize it might be Cal(ifornia) and not Cal(ipari) LOL!

Brown is a great player and I wish him nothing but the best. But, if we had gotten him, then we wouldn't have Jamal Murray.

I would take Murray any day over Brown.

Don't you EVER sully that name again.. lol.

Seriously, MKG was a gym-rat and could do it all. I'll put him on a Kentucky starting 5 any day of the week, even with a broken shot.

Bottom line:

UK would have been really good with Brown at the 3.

UK is going to be even better with Murray at the 3.

I'm not saying we can't win with that type of player. We would have been really good had Jaylen Brown picked UK. I just think Cal's offense flows better and is much more fun to watch when we don't have to play against packed in zones.

NBA players come from all kinds of schools. UK doesn't have a monopoly. If I'd been freakishly talented I'd have love to have gone to lots of schools, and Cal would have been high on that list. Great campus. Great location. A fine, top-tier school. There's a really bright kid currently on UK's team whose SATs (I've seen said) were high enough to have him think about medical school. Just as the world needs ditch diggers, I imagine it needs doctors, too. If he'd gone to a school with a bigger academic reputation, that might have been a possibility.

They're doing Rabb the same way. Neither one of those kids are getting many mins and both are playing very well. Hell I think Rabb put up something like 14pts, 11rbs in less than 20 mins the first game. I'm a redneck so I aint gonna put it nicely. Those kids were dumb to go to California. And we don't need Brown. We have a much better player instead in J-Dawg. So enjoy your 15mins a game and playing at 9 o'clock at night and not getting as much recognition and attention Jaylen.
