Jarvis Strickland Four star in state commit de-commits from KY

VM probably steals him for Louisville.
VM is a @#$%& in my book now,
If Marrow convinces Strickland to attend UL, he would be doing his job. Nothing wrong with that. Right? It's his job. Just guessing, though, I doubt it is UL. But teenagers are capable of anything, and a $million can make almost any teenager (and older people, too) do something stupid. I'm guessing TN or NC is waving big bucks in front of him, but that could certainly be wrong. Just keep in mind, Strickland is from Chattanooga.

If he is getting paid more to go to the Dirty Birds, where is UofL getting the money to pay these kids more than UK when they are $17 million in the RED with there athletic programs???!!!!

This is a deceptive number. That’s after they budget for the 20 million they can start paying to athletes, so they haven’t been at a negative. NIL is/has been separate, and they are budgeting the full 20 million. They’ll probably end up going the uk route and borrowing from the university to make up the shortfall. The other option is private equity. Pretty much no schools operate on a big athletic surplus. Everything goes into capex, debt, etc. you just hope your revenue keeps up with expanding costs

NIL and the Athletic budget are two separate things and the real number is 12.5 million. Plus I guess you forgot that UK is expecting a 31 million deficit over the next two years.

Pretty much agree with everything you said in this post. That said, it's not that difficult to negatively recruit against UK at the present time.

If i had to wager, my bet would be UL football having more nil than uk football. They didn't sit on their hands hoping nil would go away, and gobbled up high net worth donors.

UK gives money BACK to the university and is SELF-SUFFICIENT.

The loan was for the $21 million to pay out this season and for upgrades to the athletic dept that will be paid back in FULL.

You program SUCKS off of the Kentucky tax payers!!!

That is NOT a deficit!!! It's a loan that will be paid back in FULL for the $21 million needed to fund the player payout this season AND athletic upgrades.

UK athletics gives money BACK to the university, like over $1 million/year. Unlike your pitiful school that sucks off of the Kentucky tax payers to pay for your sports programs.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The University of Kentucky’s athletics department expects to operate at a net loss of nearly $31 million over the next two fiscal years — a sobering figure that underscores the cost of entering college sports’ new era of athlete revenue sharing, even for a financially-stable program in one of the nation’s top conferences.

On Thursday, UK’s Board of Trustees Athletics Committee approved a plan to lend the athletics department $141 million, including $110 million in capital investment loans for major facility projects and an additional $31 million in operating funds to offset expected deficits in fiscal years 2025 and 2026.

"Deficits in 2025 and 2026". Which will be paid back in FULL.

Unlike your community college that has to run in the red from now on unless you sell out to a public equity firm that is DUMB enough to invest in UofL athletics.

No article that I have seen has said it will be paid back in full.

Regardless this thread is about a decommit so I will not respond to the school money talk to try and keep this thread from going off track to far.

Have no respect for Morrow this guy could have went anywhere in past years and today but chose to go to our bitter rival and will take players like Strickland away of course it has not been said where he will go yet but odds are that where he ends up at the Ville but I blame Mitch for keeping Stoops as FB coach.

Jemison visiting this weekend is huge for the OL. Frazier visiting is huge for the DL. And the CB Terry is a really good player that we can hopefully flip on the visit.

Paid back in full with interest. Listen to the BOT meeting and it's stated numerous times it's a loan and repaid with interest.

None of this class will be signing with UK anyway once Stoops leaves after the season so best for him to jump from the sinking ship early
Perhaps he does leave but now that the settlement is in place, UK football is in an even worse position. I wondered before who would come here to coach and now I really wonder.

UK is and will remain a basketball school. In the SEC, we will be behind every school, except maybe Vandy, in football revenue sharing. Who wants to deal with that?

You can’t explain anything to that fanbase. They are so brainwashed by their local media they are the poster child of “Baghdad Bob”.

Just stop with this nonsense.....kids aren't wrong for not wanting to play for a dead man walking coach in Stoops and his offensive ineptness w/o Coen
Was he a dead man walking when he committed, stop with your nonsense. You have always had some good points but your opinion is not always right. I support the team and the staff even if I don’t agree with some of their philosophy’s.

Well, on second thought, perhaps he realised he made a mistake and committed because someone else wanted him too and he really didn’t. That’s your opinion and I have mine.
That's fine. My opinion also extends into that sounds like a bit of a stretch and not really based on anything being presented.

If you have more information to share, then we would like to hear. Did his mom want him to commit or something? Who were these other people that have influence over his decision to initially commit to UK? Knowing this would help to add context in understanding your opinion.
