Anybody know the school?

Schools are still in pursuit of #BigBlue commit Jarren Williams and he is set to visit one this weekend. https://n.rivals.com/news/schools-are-still-pursuing-kentucky-qb-commit-jarren-williams…

I sure hope he sticks with us. He is the type of QB could use. Gran and Hinshaw would turn him into a star. GO CATS!!

I definitely think Gran is squarely focused on a tough duel threat QB. I also think Towles made a bad decision by transferring and that is Barker were a 2018 recruit, he may not even go after him, which would be upsetting but understandable.

Lots of schools are still recruiting him, not heard anything about him being interested in anymore than taking a visit to see the campus. Kinda thought we would offer him, but apparently not, we have offered 10+ DT qbs in the last week or so. Not sure if we are looking at a complete overall of the offense down the road or can't get any interest from a pro style with Eason being a soph and Fromm being a Frosh. We could be down to 2 scholarshipped qbs this fall, even if its 3 one is our punter, or was last season, speculation that he is going to grad transfer somewhere he can play. Not exactly sure where that would be unless it's down to FCS because I can't see a FBS school giving him a scholarship. He hasn't progressed much at UGA, but he has certainly enjoyed the college experience as a tall, blonde good looking guy will do.

Not saying you guys offering wouldn't change things but I think our depth chart has as much to do with his interest as hinshaw, gran and a bowl. Seems like he's wanting to give himself a shot at starting 4 years... not saying it's inevitable but I think he at least wants the opportunity.

You guys are qb rich. Lol

Don't know but thought I saw where he'd be visiting 3 other schools in the coming weeks. I'm one of those who believes if guys are visiting they aren't committed.

Yep, strike him off the list and recruit his spot until he proves he's with us. Burned too many times

We do have to keep our options open. I guess that applies to any player who commits in his junior year. Or any year for that matter. Until they sign it is in the air and it pays to have a back up plan.

I sure want to land this one though. He is special.

From everything I have been hearing if we were to keep Williams on board it would be a big, big get! Maybe the ((potentially best) we have dver had!

Didni mean to imply it would, just that alot of different schools are taking a look at him. But by us not offering him when we have offered so many DT qbs the last week the staff must feel he has no interest in us. I believe our staff is going to go hard after Avery Jones who is committed to tOSU and Justin Fields who is committed to PSU, and we have offers to other kids in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, both Carolinas and Virginia, most going out in the last 2 weeks. We just aren't very attractive to qbs right now. Fromm won't start, but he has already assumed leadership of the team, calling and conducting passing throw arounds, and receivers and dbs are being there.

Maybe every now and then a player is so attached to a particular school (usually an in-state "dream" school) that he doesn't get much attention from others. But, by and large, good players are going to get recruited regardless of "commitment". I would love to see some stats on how many commitments stick as a function of "when" they committed.

Peace

If a committed recruit is visiting other schools then he's truly not committed. But I'm sure the staff is aware of this and will continue to recruit his position. If Williams flips you always have to have a backup plan. Last years qb flip actually ended up to our benefit it looks like.

I am not sure visiting always suggests a lack of commitment. There are a few reasons why a recruit might take a visit that does not reflect a lack of commitment. Sometimes they are visiting with a friend. Sometimes they are visiting to increase recognition that helps them help UK recruit. I think some kids gain extra stars when they are viewed as desired. Sometimes the kid is just taking advantage of being sought. I am sure there are other reasons that are not troublesome. Being that it is March, a month after signing date for 2017, I think it too early to get excited about such things.

Amen, Caveman. There have been a few examples the last 5 years where our commit used visits to discretely recruit for UK.

It's a little $hitty when you think about it, but the kind I can live with. :)

There was a lengthy recruiting article on the Cards premium board today. Williams was one of several QBs prospects mentioned. His first offer came from UofL (yes, it really did [winking]) and UofL continues to recruit him. FWIW, he apparently retains "serious interest" in UofL but the writer (not a poster) seemed to think as of right now he was solid to UK.

Peace

Not sure how "serious interest" and solid to UK coexist. Seems a bit overly rosey. Serious interest would be better reserved for someone who has vocalized the interest in flipping

Awesome. I love that UL offered first and Williams committed to UK. Smart kid.

Writer's words not mine. FWIW he apparently has visited UofL several times. Serious? IDK. Anyway I just thought some folks here would enjoy the fact the recruiting writer for another school site "reported" he thought William's commitment to UK is pretty solid.

Personally, I think it is a little early to get too wrapped up in 2018 recruiting but if a kid is a good player it is better to have a commitment than not. JMO

The link Wildcard gives is a Card article dated late March 2016. Williams committed to UK in June 2016. While UL may have offered first, assuming that article is correct, I suspect UK was involved with him longer.

Strange for ul to ever offer a kid first, 99% of the time their strategy is just piggy back and offer whoever announces UK offered them

A commitment today doesn't mean what a commitment meant before the days of social media.

Things changed. Have to get used to it. Don't have to like it but have to realize it.

When all the water runs over the rocks, Mr. Williams will be a Wildcat IMO. Never will forget the UK basketball star Cotton Nash telling about taking visits to UCLA, Hawaii, USC, Florida etc. knowing all along he was UK bound, just wanted to see the sites !

Yup. A day in the life of Cort Dennison:
- log on to Twitter
- search "Kentucky football offer"
- madly scramble to get contact info for recruits saying that were offered by Kentucky
- call said recruits, make offer, make obligatory derogatory remarks about UK
- wash, rinse, repeat...

If Petrino offers a QB he has to be pretty good. Not a Petrino fan but the guy knows QBs. Now we just gotta hold on to this kid. When you're getting big time recruits, you have to be ready to battle with the big time programs.

He's not committed .... these kids don't know what that means

You're committed? Shut it down and prove it
