Jamal Murray Highlight Video against Argentina

The thing with Murray and Briscoe is that they have such good pace and change of direction/speed. They get you off balance, get a step, seal you, and go.

It's not that dribble drive handoff we used to run with Wall/Bledsoe at the top of the key/wing where they basically got a running start and just sliced to the rim, but the threat to stop and pull up or to shoot the three, plus the fact that both are big and strong for the guard spot, and that we're going to have three guys on the floor who can break you down and find the mismatch, means they're a very good fit.

With Briscoe, Murray, Poythress and Skal, I bet we shoot a ton of free throws this year.

I wasn't saying it as a real negative, but the 1 thing I saw he could improve on would be his slashing/speed to the basket. I wanted this kid more than any player after seeing the Jordan game. He and Diallo were my wants for the class.

He's not John Wall, that's for sure, but I don't see it being a liability. He used a little shake move to get room to get his shot off a couple times, and he was able to get past his man a couple times.
Bottom line, he's a lot quicker than both of the Harrisons from what I can tell. A better athlete too.

Only negative I see is his speed...doesn't seem to take his man off the dribble that easily. Working with Cal and the other coaches they will get him ready for that. He has all the essentials though, size, good stroke, good head and confidence. Coaches will get that cut stronger and of course they always pound the players with defense.
What? Dude has very good speed

Briscoe just seems like one of those guys who is gonna have trouble scoring efficiently, especially if he can't hit shots away from the basket.

I don't know, he has a terrific mid-range game, uncanny dribbling/ball handling abilities, and a big body to boot. He'll be fine.

Seems like something somebody would say about the Harrison's two years ago.

Why is it that you act like the Harrisons are bad players? How many freshmen backcourts take a group of other freshmen to the championship game, come back for their sophomore year, and take the team to the final four? Also consider, Aaron Harrison dominated the paint during the summer league (which is better competition than college basketball).
Also, you need to consider, neither of the Harrisons had terrific ball handling abilities. They were outstanding from mid-range for us though, and if you argue that, you're simply being ignorant.

18 year old going up against guys 5-6 years older....and you want him flying by them. not unrealistic at all....

I wouldn't say a negative word on him considering he's playing against pros whether NBA or not. The teams they're playing may not be NBA teams but the players are the woukd be the very best players to come out of college. The players he's playing against will be faster and better than almost anyone he will see in college....

When I was 18 I played someone 41 years older and blew by them every time. Mawmaw couldn't keep me out of the lane so surely Jamal can get past guys only 5-6 years older

Poor IU. They thought they'd have one of, if not the best backcourts in the country when Yogi came back along with Blackmon. Now Cal has simply blown by again with precision recruiting and team-building, showing once again he's the best.

He is, I watched all of em live and in person and Murray over all is a better athlete. The one thing I'd say the Harrison's could do better athletically would be to get a little higher up. Murray can dunk it no problem but he isn't a high riser. I saw Aaron get his elbows up by the rim on a oop from his brother.

As far as speed goes Murray is a very quick change of pace guard and can change on a dime and can accelerate very fast but his top gear is not blazing fast. That's about the only knock that I have seen. But he does an excellent job of using his body to shield the defender after he blows by them.

Very smart player. If he was in college he would of had 4-5 more points off FT's in last nights game.
Noticed how they were crowding him after halftime. He's gonna have to use some screens here to get those guys off him.
He is just a creative scorer. He can run a point but I still think he's gonna be much better as a scoring guard

I never said they were. Neither were ever consistently efficient scorers during their time here, and I don't know how you can argue differently. With what we have surrounding him that would probably be fine, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be a little disappointed if he can't at least average 40% from the field.

Dude. Briscoe's gonna be amazing. He's got elite handles. Like no joke he's an elite ball handler. And he can get to the rim at will. I mean nobody can stay in front of him, he can get by any defender and get to the basket almost at will. Then like another dude said he's got an excellent mid range game. He'll score 12-13 points a game next year and probably have 3-4 assists too. Briscoe's a beast brother. He'll be a top 15 pick easily. I' predicting Skal to go 1 overall, Murray- 4th, Briscoe- 12th, and Poythress in the early to mid 2nd round.

Look here. I've been telling everybody how bad ass Murray is. The kid's going to take college basketball by storm next year. He'll be one of the best players in the nation and a top 5 or top 10 draft pick. He's a pure scoring guard. He can beat you in every way possible. He's an excellent 3pt shooter, and he can get by the defender and get to the rim and he can finish through contact. Oh and I just wanna say this...Suck it Newman!!!

Yeah, i've seen him play quiet a bit & i've always came away disappointed. Settles for too many step backs & gets stuffed at the rim a lot due to zero explosion. His 3-ball is below average + his shooting motion from deep is slow to develop.

I project him having similar scoring concerns that plagued Andrew in his time here Both share similar flaws.
