Jaland Lowe to uk

26 percent three point shooter. Is this one we should be excited about?

He is almost a 90% FT shooter. From what I've read about him past week or so it sounds like he was pretty much the only good player on Pitt and had to do everything. Probably explains the dip.

I remember when Travis Ford was forced into that role the year after Mashburn when Dent tore ACL. He shot 15% less than the previous season (53% vs 38%) on similar attempts.

Lowe just needs to prove he is a threat. 35% is fine....that is what he was as a FR.

Yes just what I said he might do better under pope's system but about every player had better stats last year then his.
Explain what you mean by that… he was one of 8 players in the entire country to average over 16th, 4 rebounds and 5.5 assists… also had 1.8 steals per game and shot 88% from the ft line. He can shoot. He was on a shit team with shit coaching. He’ll thrive under Pope. He doesn’t need to shoot over 40% from 3 anyways. 35% would do just fine. We will have the shooters . Especially if the guy from Spain commits

Check out some of his HS shooting stats. 2021/22 he was over 50% from the 3. Granted I'm going to assume his team was much better than the competition to have THAT kind of efficiency. But it shows he can hit 3s. Last year seems to be the outlier.

54 for 90 is pretty good to me.

I browsed the Pitt board the other day. A lot of what they said has been repeated here ad nauseam (bad 3-point numbers, shot-chucker, turnover prone) but there was a consensus that it was a shit team, Capel was a terrible offensive coach and Lowe was forced to play hero ball. They thought he'd be really good in the right system with the right players.

Who knows. I think taking him over the Princeton kid was definitely the right call though.

I didn't know anything about him, so I decided to check his stats from this past year. I picked nine games Pitt played against what I loosely considered "good" teams (i.e. tournament teams generally). I'll list the specific games below. Here's what he averaged against those teams:

Pts: 17.5
Reb: 4.7
Asst: 4.2
TO: 3.2
STL: 1.4

His 3P% seemed to be kind of streaky from game to game, from what I remember, but he seems to be the kind of guy who "gets his shot." Which, I seem to remember many on here worrying about.

I try to remember that he also played on a bad team; that can have a bigger impact on your game than many want to consider - like assists.

He seems like the kind of player that could blossom when surrounded by better overall talent. As with all things, time will tell.

Games I used: Wisconsin, Ohio State, Mississippi St., Duke, Louisville (x2), Clemson, UNC (x2).

They weren't pumped about Butler either.
Butler was a certified defensive star who was known as a clutch player .. this dude is no where near Butlers bonfires. I hope he ends up great but he's not nearly as good as Butler coming in.

Really looks more like a panic signing than a boom get. Jmo I don't know ow much about him I never saw him play just reading he's not a lot to be thrilled with .

He must be pretty good if he was a 3rd team all ACC guy. I like this add. Let him and Lewis compete. Lewis will surprise a lot of people.

I watched Lowe quite a bit last season and the kid is super talented. Athletic, can create his own shot and gets to the free-throw line at will. I'd attribute the low shot percentages to him being forced to do everything for that Pitt offense.

One thing that should give you hope regarding his three-point % is that he shoots almost 90% from the free-throw line. There aren't many bad perimeter shooters that can shoot that well at the line and so I'd expect with the right coaching and a better surrounding cast (especially shooters), the kid will thrive.

You got a good one and a very underrated pickup IMO

Jones just said we are looking to add 2-3 more pieces. A shooter and a big. So Alvaro is the big. But I wonder who the shooter is?
Right now we only have 2 bigs, what's our plan if we only add one more? Does Pope see Noah as a stretch 4?

He's a Wildcat now. If he improves his assits/TO (decision making I bet) and gets his 3pt % back to his freshman level he will be an awesome pick up.
