For me, I am done with those guys. I know the times we are in is crazy as far as recruiting. But it seems they are wrong about as often as they are right.
Recruiting info on line is a huge industry, I get it. But with the fluidity of the portal and NIL nothing is for sure until they sign on the dotted line.
Now, is it harmless if they are wrong or right on a certain kid, yes. But I think for me at least I'm going to back off on the recruiting 'experts' and just wait and hope we end up with a good portal class.
Just my take which is worth absolutely nothing. Hope all have a good day and go Cats

It's fair to say that those with "sources" in today's world, are all different than what they were a few years ago. It's not coming from the same places...why would we expect the same people have the connections?

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to think a lot of the people with info on portal stuff is more likely to come from people in/around schools, students at schools, family members/friends, etc.

What people should've realized the last few years is very few people actually have info. Cal and pope both had very closed staffs.

The only real scoop out there anywhere comes from joe Tipton or a few guys plugged into the nil world. Tipton gets info from his Tipton edits, but cant always share it because it shades the announcement.

So the nil guys are the only real advanced info, and at least one of those accounts seems now to come up dry. Given the info they would tweet, it probably didn't take long to track down the person and fire them.

There are people with legit info. However, they generally aren't employed by a "site" and often just get discredited because they are random Joe Schmoe on IG or Twitter.

Of course, they likely aren't trying to make a living by selling their "info", because once you do that, everyone knows their info has "value" to them.

They're just trying to make money, protect their jobs and their paycheck. I get it. But I also have no use for them if they can't get reliable information.

Lemond has legitimate sources around UK from his old media days. The Gwath thing just changed last second.

Torres is a blowhard and just tries to be 2nd or 3rd and act like he’s “in the circles”
Ryan does get info, but it’s usually (almost always) from basketball only related people from inside the basketball program (same with football). If they feel good about something, they tell him. But sometimes feeling really good about something changes super quickly and makes it look like poor info. His success rate of “scoop” is descent, and I like that he’s willing to share it at his own expense.

These guys are constantly on the phone with the recruits or their handlers. They are reporting what those guys want out there. That is why you have so much smoke but very little fires. You take this info with a grain of salt the size of Salt Lake City. It is for entertainment only. You can choose to get hyped if you want but me, I tend to just go well that is good but do not hold my breath. Misdirection is the name of the game when you get your info from the other side. What i do not understand is anyone going after any of these guys when what they report ends up not panning out. Do you think they were just leading you on or something like that? Just use the info as one of several views or sources.

Polacheck does the work—reaches out to players, HS coaches, agents, etc and writes articles with some interesting info from those convos. With that said with any of these guys you have to know the agents and reps are using them to put out info they want, so every “scoop” comes with a grain of salt.

Lemond just hears stuff from living in Lex and being around UK athletics and HS athletics for many years. I don’t think he’s ever actively seeking scoops to publish. Just happens to know people who sometimes hear things. Usually his scoops are pretty accurate but he’s not exactly eloquent in his delivery. He should probably learn to qualify his predictions a little more.

Torres is, generously, a businessman. Ungenerously he’s a grifter. I don’t think he has any real sources that he has exclusive access to. Just repackages stuff more connected reporters put out and adds a clickbait title.

im never paying for "info" that will become obvious in a few days.
If anyone if paying for info they are mostly getting scammed. The only reason to pay for any of these subscriptions is the community that come with it. The message boards/discord/X chats in some of these spaces are more active for discussion with college basketball fans.

Good, valuable info rarely leaks. I'd wager that 90% of what we get are strategically 'leaked' smokescreens. There's simply too much at stake for a program to broadcast their plans and dealings.

He does have good info at times. Imo its either from the ad office or compliance/clearinghouse/registar personnel because its something last minute which lends itself to being one of these final step offices before admission.

I used to pay for premium board here and over those few years I had it, I realized the so called insiders know little more than any of us. Graf and Sisk are nice but not sure they are really in the know

I learned long ago to take all “insiders” and their “sources” with a grain of salt for recruiting.

I don’t get my hopes too up or down until a player commits or signs. Getting worked up over speculation is a fool’s errand.

I also refuse to pay money for rumor and innuendo. The information that someone has committed will always be free. The information people are paying for is usually nothing but an educated guess or “I am hearing …”

That’s true, I had a guy on YouTube comments arguing with another UK fan about Dent. A full day before dude was like he’s going to UCLA. They argued and dude was like let’s exchange Venmo and put a $100 on it. UCLA guy was like don’t ghost me when it comes out, sure enough a day later he commits to UCLA. He comes back and asks for his money. I said good call, he’s like yeah his brother told me lol.

Ryan doesn’t seem to seem to use scoops for attention or to make money. They usually have to pry it out of him. He certainly isn’t concerned about marketing or how he packages the info! Lots of so-called insiders are just the opposite and pretend to have more connections than they actually have, and try to build up false excitement.

Some fans need to realize that “real scoop” is only true for a specific moment in time and may change. I don’t understand the anger shown towards someone when their scoop is wrong because some kid changed their mind. Why would anyone want to continue sharing “scoop” when you know you’ll never be 100% correct.

I ignore the ones who try to build their reputation and identity around being the “insider.”

I've never understood the fascination with Torres. I listened to him a fair bit last off season and he said the same thing over and over in different ways, never with any real insight or information I didn't already know.

Torres is a Muppet. He literally tilts his head back and opens with every word, like someone has a hand up his chute.
