Jackson Smith...??

Ruffolo's problem is obviously mental, but he has had a month to get it fixed. Apparently he can't. That cost us the Ole MS game and almost cost us the MO game too. If Stoops gives up on Ruffolo, which is overdue, Chance Poore should get the first opportunity. Poore already handles kickoffs. He has a strong leg, and he is a senior. Fans may not like him, but fans know nothing about him. Poore stuck around and stayed loyal.

Joker gave up on Joe Mansour. Then Stoops came in and gave him a chance. Mansour had a good senior season for Stoops.

Either way, Smith will become the FG kicker in 2023. If Poore can't handle it, Smith could get promoted sooner.

Maybe not? I know UK has Trinity’s punter coming next year. He’s very good. They also have a very good place kicker.

Never really believed the saying 1/3rd of the game was Special Teams but have seen it impact our games a bunch this season.

Took a guy like Blake Best for granted his 4 years. Not one miscue on snaps.

Ruffalo badly hooked one last game when he weirdly started his approach way early.

The whole debacle started vs Florida with a bad snap that is now clearly a mental thing that he is yet to overcome. Thanks to horrible snaps and kicks, even pats are an edge of your seat adventure. It's ridiculous

A lot has been the bad snaps. That first kick he took off way to fast it was weird. The long one into the wind was true but just not enuff leg. He has always kinda had a low kick. He was good last year most of the time.

The second one was down the middle. The wind got as it did Missouri’s kicker.

Who's the PK if not Smith, who if I remember correctly, was voted #1 in his class...

I’m pretty sure Smith was recruited to be a place kicker.

Trinity's placekicker is my nephew.
In his playoff game last friday, All kickoffs were touchbacks or out of the end zone, made all his extra points and a 41 yard FG.

Trinity's season hasn't been great. Fans and families aren't happy with the new coach who took over for Beatty. he's mismanaged some games. Kellan has great accuracy, but his protection has been bad this year, he's had a few blocked. He's got range to 60+ yards. He had an individual camp at UK because he couldn't make the main camp. They put him through all the drills they put the campers through and he outperformed all of them. Kicked a 60 yarder (granted it was inside the Nutter Fieldhouse) but he impressed them, but unfortunately now he can't get them to respond to him about attending a game, (even though they told him to take his pick) I'm kinda pissed about that. He has a lot of family hoping he could wear the blue and white, but more than likely he winds up somewhere else. Wherever he goes they're getting a gem. Super proud of the young man. He has a real good and disciplined head on his shoulders as well. Puts in overtime in the weight room and on the practice field, has very good grades, and works a job part time too.

I think he does both and they will put him doing whichever he excels at the most I suppose. Don't discount Wilson Berry, we're going to find out what he's really got these next few weeks. I think Goodfellow just flat kept the job after Berry got hurt last year. Goodfellow came in and was about as solid as we could expect after losing a Ray Guy Award winner. Berry is another Aussie guy so we may be back to the rugby style kicking. I really would love to see one of these former Aussie football players take off running if the field position was favorable and the needed yardage pretty short. those guys are usually tough as nails and could pick up a first down if needed.

Sometimes it’s just bad timing. If they hadn’t used a scholarship on a kicker last year , they would have been a lot more likely to pursue one this year .

He was told at the time he camped, they were going to take one HS kid and one Portal player for Kicking/punting. well they got their High Schooler in Schwartz who is my nephews good friend and holder. SO will be interesting to see what they do in the portal. Poore could theoretically come back for his Covid year, but he's more than likely gone along with Ruffalo and Goodfellow, so that leaves us with Smith, Berry and Schwartz, There's room for another Kicker. I have to think bringing in Schwartz means Smith is more than likely slated to be a Kicker. But he can't be the only kicker. we've historically had different guys doing Kickoffs vs. Field Goals. been that way more often than not it seems.

PWO?

One thing I just noticed watching the video of Jackson Smith kicking and my nephew, probably doesn't mean anything, but when Smith follows through with his kick and lands, he takes a couple of hops. Kellan kicks, lands on his left foot no hop just walks off.

Crazy that Chance Poore was the #1 ranked kicker by 1 service coming out of high school and we get kick offs and holds out of it.
He was our FG kicker until he missed a few kicks including the game winner against UF. He had a big leg but Ruffalo replaced him and they never looked back

Somebody's ears must have been burning, My sister just texted me that Kellan got invited to UK for this weekends game.
Congratulations!!! Hope he's wearing the B/W next year. My BIL is a Trinity grad along with a longtime friend who's a huge BBN fan and post here some.

Kellan had the third most field goals for a season in state history last season, he led the state. He has 15 this year and leads the state. if they continue to advance in the playoffs he can expect to break his own record. He already has the most in Trinity school history, has the Trinity record most FG's in a game with 5, and Holds the Trinity record for longest FG at 54 yards, last year against Cincinnati St. Xavier. Kellan's FG stats last season were better than Smiths.

What game winner did he miss against Florida? Maybe it was another team?
