He's terrible. Typical stoops though to leave him in. Maybe he will try someone else, maybe the freshman saves the day like Drake Jackson did when he got his shot. But the answer is definitely not Burton.
He was beyond terrible last year but I figured he was just thrown in a bit too early. So far this year, he’s not any better.

Yeah....he is hard to defend. Not just snap issues but he's a penalty factory and he's not a dominate interior blocker. Snaps are all over the place in Ball St and this game....looks like the year they tried Bunchy at C....had to move to Drake Jackson

This shows you how many people don’t actually watch the game, two plays you make a judgement actually played played pretty well overall

It really irks me that Burton was one of the ones that was drastically improved based on stories out of camp.
If this is improved then I underestimated how exactly terrible he was last year because while he was bad I almost feel like he's gotten worse.

Burton definitely did not play anywhere close to good. Not sure what you watched.

Have any of the Fredrick Douglas kids done anything except for Dane? And he’s dropping the ball all over like that’s his job or something.

That was one of the most garbage holding calls.

Yes was unnecessary to even do but it gave zero advantage or disadvantage and was more like linemen effing around after the play was over.

But the snaps have to be on point every time. We don’t have that margin of error against sec teams. None actually.

Doesn't matter how well you play overall. As a center you can't make bad snaps and have bonehead penalties. A false start by a center when you are the one snapping the ball? Holding on an interior lineman? That's a hard to get penalty there.... I can't make a judgement on his physical ability but what I can say is center is a very cerebral position and those mental mistakes are inexcusable

It was not a garbage call.....Dline tries to disengage and go sideline....then you grab jersey and impede...it was a hold. The NG wasn't goign to make a play on the TD...but it was a hold

” I believe in our team. We're going to work, and fight, and grind, but there are some expectations that aren't being met at some positions. Center may be one of them.”
Well that was a quote from Mark Stoops post game show so…………

I watched every play of the game, he didn't play " pretty well ". His numerous bad snaps kill the flow of the play. By bad snaps I mean snaps that arent delivered to QB in a comfortable position. He had a ton of those

Stoops hinted on post game with Tom, that Cox may be back at center.

Nothing definite, just considering options.
Would like to see what Cox at center and Bowles at RG would look like. Saw Bowles get into it a little late with one of their players. Maybe he is more aggressive also.

We are really bad on Oline - just look poorly Coached
Yesner might be the worst coach in the country. No idea why he wasn’t fired last year, other than Stoops didn’t want to fire every coach he hired last year.

Really wish we’d given someone else snaps against the stinky teams. Not really an opportunity to change now.

Been pointing this out forever. Why the staff is so invested in him is a mystery to me. He struggled at guard (many of those early twist errors were on him, despite the blame going to LT). Then they move him to center to try to give him even more chances and he proceeds to continually make snaps and adventure.

We're all cheering for the kid but cmon.

Eli Cox is just a hair behind him. How he was mid season all American a few years ago was mind-blowing. He's above average and better than Jager but his arc is still disappointing.

For all the grief RT got, the two T positions are performing much better than Jager and E cox.

PS really impressed with Ray. He won't blow you away but he also doesn't hurt you at all. Can't ask for much more from a backup LG

If Horsey is able to go, would not surprise me to see Ray switch sides and Cox move to center and Bowles backup both guard positions.

Wouldn't hurt but the staff has shown time and again they are invested in getting Burton on the field come hell or high water. They didn't even offer Austin Dotson, a really good run blocker, a covid year from what I understand. They were ready to give Jager his turn.

I don't actually want him back. But it touched a nerve how KSR personalities went to far criticizing him. And a lot was how St Jager was misused. I need to let that go.
Man. Everybody blamed him for the Oline falling apart when the reality is we’ve completely missed in recruiting. It is what is and we have to utilize the portal to fix it

Well he was recruiting for Alabama while he was being paid by Kentucky so I don’t have any sympathy for him.
