All I can really say about the Reds run at this point is that I am having fun watching these games. Hopefully it keeps up and we can make some noise post season. Last two World Championships I did not get to see because I was busy with the Army. Oct 76 I was in Basic Training and did not have access and in 90 I was in the Saudi Desert in October. I did not know who won each game until it was over. Got the Stars and Stripes paper after the fact.

FWIW I think 2024-2028 Is the Reds window to win a world series.
They aren't trading any top prospects at the deadline and they shouldn't.
One or two pitchers aren't going to fix this staff.
They will trade India or Stephenson or both in the offseason IMO.
I think they acquire a couple pitchers through trades and sign a couple mid teir pitchers in the offseason.
If Greene, Lodolo stay healthy in 24 and Abbott and Phillips are healthy and for real. They should be a legit world series contender next year.

Throw Ashcraft in there and the Reds are contenders.

Reds have got to get some pitching help before the trade deadline. Can't rely on outscoring your opponent every night.
I think that is about every team, they all need pitching- Reds starters go about 3-4 innings- no way they can keep that up

They’ve got 2 fringe top 100 starting pitchers in Connor Phillips and Lyon Richardson ready to come up. I think you will see them after the all star break and then get Lodolo and Greene back in august along with Lively soon

Greene, Lodolo, Abbott, Phillips, Richardson/Williamson

Move Weaver and Lively to the pen. Odd started out goes to Louisville. Help is coming but I wouldn’t mind a trade

I don't expect Lodolo and Greene to be back at full strength right away but whenever they do, it will be huge for this Reds team. Greene needing to undergo a core strengthening program at this point in the middle of the season, out 4-6 weeks. Get Ashcraft back on track with Andrew Abbott on top right now and Williamson some more experience to settle in, things are looking up. Thankfully there is some time off to heal with the All-Star Break. Would like to see what Phillips & Richardson could do before the All-Star break so the Reds could have time left to make a move before the deadline but doubt we'll see that happening so soon.

Hopefully Alec Mills can stop the bleeding. Had some serviceable seasons with the Cubs and if he can keep the damage to 3-4 runs, the offense is plenty good enough to keep this team in games. Plus, quality relievers coming off the IL with Derek Law, Tejay Antone & Tony Santillan. Law has been decent for the Reds. Like Greene & Lodolo, it will take time for Antone & Santillan to get comfortable after missing so much time on the injured list.

Law would be a good opener for Weaver. Law opened a couple times for Levi Stoudt I believe and Weaver is okay after the 1st inning.

I agree with you here and think this would be a great idea for Bell to go back to with the rotation as it is. Weaver is best suited as a mid-reliever and settles after the 1st. Law handled the opener situation well in his outings before the IL.

Slugging off the charts...

Pitching in the shitter...

That image reminds me when I was 12 pitching for Little League All-Star team and my coach wanted me to start the game with a high heater BEHIND THE BATTER! I couldn’t make myself do it.

A little background. I was 5’9 170, and probably threw 65. AND I had hit my teammate in the head twice during the season during batting practice.

I was reminded of the situation with Pedro Cerrano in the movie Major League as the announcers were saying the same thing the other night. They said that pitchers were not going throw him fastballs because he was killing it but instead, throw curveballs and changeups down and in because he has a problem with those.

"Fastball I can hit it very much but curveball, bats are scared".
Exactly. He better get that fixed or he have problems. He probably will. Classic movie.

GO BRAVES ! …sorry Herro …wow what a series that was
Had a friend who was a big Reds fan and I was a big Braves fan. In the 90's we had a standing steak dinner bet on each series. For a decade I lost less than 5 steaks and probably got 20.

I’m originally from Kentucky so was a Reds fan …we moved to Florida when I was 12 so became a Braves fan cause that’s all we saw on TV down here via TBS showing all their games …my brother kept his allegiance to the Reds …every series they played against each other it was all out warfare in my house lol

My buddy is a Braves fan because of turner network, lot of people in Kentucky are. Kind of a lost generation for Reds fans. I didn’t like baseball till i was 14 in 2004 so we got fox sports Ohio. I’d imagine if I had watched baseball in the 90s, I could’ve been a Braves fan just because they were all that was on. Or cubs wirh wgn

When I was at UK I was a Reds fan and I was there during the Big Red Machine. After college I moved to Alabama and the only team on TV was the Braves, hence I became a Braves fan.

By the way I was sitting 1st row behind 3rd base dugout when Sid Bream slid into home for the win. My friend was shot after game by people shooting guns in air and a bullet fell out of shy a d hit him in calf. He has it on his Law Office desk today.

Oh my gosh what a story ! Thanks for sharing

Ashcraft was dealing vs the Padres. 6 2/3, 1 run. Even if the Padres are struggling, they still have some talented hitters with Soto, Machado, Bogaerts, Roid Boy so forth. Stephenson with the go-ahead home run. Bullpen needs to do their job now.

I wonder when the last time was that 2 division leaders had negative run differentials at the all star break? Both central divisions should be relegated to triple A. Just awful baseball.
