Stoops already has his replacement in house...thankfully.

Well, this will also hurt Levis development. He was finally going to have a full off season/spring with Coen. We saw the improvement happen throughout the season and we were all excited to see even more. I also thought he said one his big reasons for returning was Coen told him he’d be here next year. Kind of a Shatty situation for Will both development and relationship wise 😕

Sucks, but this was always going to happen. Didn't think it would be after 1 year, but the guy has to ties to Kentucky & clearly saw UK as an opportunity to get to a higher level position in the NFL. Hard to turn down the OC job for the superbowl champs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Stoops went after another assistant for the Rams to replace him. We could become the Rams OC development team which would probably benefit everyone

Pretty much.

I was just going to say, how awkward is it for Eddie and Stoops right now. Just kidding of course. I know Eddie got stuck in a ground and pound necessity offense at the end but people easily forget what brought him here in the first place was his success scoring points on a high level.

-Thankful that we had him this past year.
-Disappointed that the word of most coaches doesn't mean anything.
-Happy for Coen that he got promoted so quickly.
-Think it's too soon for him to make the jump. He still has a lot to learn, and the NFL is not the place to work through mistakes.
-Hope coach Stoops can find someone like Coen or better for the position asap. Really need a good QB coach and OC.

Really hated to see this happen.Coen had UK improving each and every week offensively and
putting a product on the field that was a real joy to watch. I really feel for the guys he's leaving behind
and hope that Stoops can find a knockout replacement.
By the way how much money will it take to keep outstanding assistant coaches in the college ranks?

Hire Zac Robinson. He’s in the same position that Coen was when we got him.

I hope it will be another QB coach from the Rams tree. Almost has to be. We invested too much and saw alot of return on that investment.

I was high on Woodward getting the job but I think the better move is a QB coach/oc because 1) it fills the need. If we elevate Woodward we still need to hire a QB coach and prior to coen stoops hasn't knocked it out of the park there 2) we owe it to Levis. He returned thinking coen would return. He needs a plug and play situation here; not to relearn everything

If we hire Robinson away from the Rams, Coen will more than likely hire his buddy Woodward away from us to replace him. (probably happen anyway).

This is a lose, lose situation for CMS and UK football. Also concerned about some of our high profile WR recruits . CMS has to get this hire right.

Stoops has seen the light. He’s not turning back now. He knows exactly what he needs to keep this offense going and has most likely had this hire in his back pocket for weeks now. No need to sweat.

1. Like others have said, this definitely sucks for the program. Dude was great... Evidenced by opposing teams' fans already cheering for this move.

2. I'm cautiously optimistic that Coen wasn't a Stoops one-hit-wonder. That said, whether we hire Woodward or someone else to OC, we need a top-notch QB coach. There are no two ways around it. That said, I think Stoops will (likely already has) take counsel from Coen, Woodward, Gran, and Big Dawg™ as to who would be a good fit for the position.

3. Yeah, the idea may have been for Coen to be around for at least two seasons, but I defy any of you to be given the opportunity of a lifetime to perform at the highest levels of your craft and refuse it. I have no doubt that Coen has discussed everything with the offense and has the blessing from the overwhelming majority of the players (mostly because I'm seeing on Twitter where that's the case [as of right now]). Why would you NOT want a valued mentor and friend to succeed? Dude will probably KILL IT in the league and he now has a connection to Lexington.

4. By extension, Stoops now has a tie to a rockstar up-and-coming offensive mind. That will pay dividends for us down the road – even if we don't see it that way now.

5. Offense is loaded with playmakers this coming season and I think that'll really help sell the OC position if we don't promote from within.

In conclusion, I think we need to breathe. Unclench that jaw. Go for a stroll outside. Read a good book. Go to the range and plink a few rounds. We'll survive.

Well it was great while it lasted. I'm confident CMS will find the right guy so we don't miss a beat.

Isn’t there an OC or asst at SMU that has a great pedigree? I would stay away from the pro ranks. Bit us after one year. My guess is Stoops was preparing and I hope it’s not Gran or Woodward.

This stings, but hopefully the replacement can bring some fresh buzz. I do wonder about the Levis situation. I've heard that he came back for Coen. I honestly thought that would keep Coen here another season. It could work out better for Levis, though, if he shows he can excel under 2 different coordinators.

All of this is true.
I am also happy for Coen and greatful for what he was able to accomplish in one year in bringing our offense out of the Dark Ages and into the 21st. Century.

His creativity in the red zone and on 3rd. downs were amazing to watch. Another year of his leadership and our offense would have been at or very near the top of the SEC and even our enemies knew that.

All that being said..........it still sucks for us UK fans and there is no way to spin that. Thankful for the one year Coen gave us, would loved to have had the two we hoped for.
