Is Vanderbilt the favorite in the SEC next year?

Come on...

Cal is great, but do you really think he is the best coach in the country? I think he's the best recruiter in the country and an elite defensive coach, but that's as far as I can go in terms of *best.*
How many other coaches last year won 38 out of 39 games?

This is no knock but it seems like you are putting a lot of stock in the transfers. We know, because it takes time for them to get into the new system and new conference so don't be disappointed if they stumble out of the gate and have a breaking in period.

I think we would be really good without adding any players. We have some studs on the current roster in Damian Jones, Wade Baldwin IV, Riley LaChance, Luke Kornet, and Matthew Fisher-Davis. Adding Cressler and the freshmen will help too though, so I expect to be pretty good regardless of what the transfer(s) do.

I'm not sure we will be, but we should have as deep and talented of a team as I've seen at VU in a long time.

We just got a transfer from Seton Hall named Sterling Gibbs who I've never heard of, but he averaged 16 ppg and 4 ast so he must be decent. I can't imagine he's better than Wade Baldwin IV, but sounds like a real good option.

We are two deep with really good players 1-5, and as disappointed as we all were with Stallings, he seems to have righted the ship and we appear to be back.

I expect VU, UK,aTm and LSU to be the class of the league next year.
You had better hope VU isn't the favorite, you guys won't fare well with a target on your back,Stallings couldn't handle that for a week let alone the SEC season.

If Stallings prepared his team for every game the way he does for the UK game(s) they would be top 5 next season. Problem is they lay down for everyone else.
That 2012 Vandy team was REALLY good, played nose To nose with the eventual national Champions 3 times and won one of them but got into the tournament and choked like always. I have no faith in Stallings so no, Candy will not win the SEC.

Stallings needs to have his teams perform better in the Dance for sure.

What seems to be the issue with Vandy in the tournament in your opinion? Seems like its been forever since they've been in a sweet 16. Stallings is missing a killer opportunity to make Vandy the Gold standard for college hoops in the state of Tennessee. He should be raiding Shelby Co, and its seems the missing variable here is tournament success. I know its hard to get into Shelby Co, but with Vanderbilt degrees, Nashville, SEC, and decent prestige the last decade I just think he's missing the mark and don't understand it. He seems like a c- recruiter, and maybe just doesn't have a high ceiling. I think he's a really good coach, but Im not sure he can take you to the level I think Vandy has the potential to be.

Stallings issue has been a good run of bad luck. Bad whistles, good play by the other teams and a few bad performances by key players and there ya have it. Stallings is a good coach and has had postseason success, but he needs to get to the next level. He has lost 4 of his last 5 NCAA Tourney games, so it's time to turn it around. Can't wait to see if he can.
