Is Vanderbilt the favorite in the SEC next year?

You are embarrassing yourself with some of these posts lately. Stop posting for a while man, you are usually a sound, intelligent poster. UK 4th? That is comical.

If Kentucky finishes 4th I'll eat a Vanderbilt hat and post it here.

I'm not sure on Vandy yet, I'll be interested to see how they do early next season in Maui with Kansas, Indiana, and UCLA.

Me too. The Maui Invitational has a great field this year:

Vandy
Kansas
Indiana
UCLA
Wake Forest
UNLV
St. John's
Chaminade

I love the early test. Great opportunity to set the tone for the season. I am going to try and take my family to it, but daddy has to close some deals prior to.

I'm not sure we will be, but we should have as deep and talented of a team as I've seen at VU in a long time.

We just got a transfer from Seton Hall named Sterling Gibbs who I've never heard of, but he averaged 16 ppg and 4 ast so he must be decent. I can't imagine he's better than Wade Baldwin IV, but sounds like a real good option.

We are two deep with really good players 1-5, and as disappointed as we all were with Stallings, he seems to have righted the ship and we appear to be back.

I expect VU, UK,aTm and LSU to be the class of the league next year.

Yes...in golf

I don't know about favorite, but I think Vandy should be a tournament team if they can win at their usual clip at home and steal a few on the road.

A&m will be very good next year. They bring back a strong team and add a strong class. Who wins sec will depend on who plays who home and home. Whichever team has the weakest home and home schedule will have big advantage.

Link to Sterling Gibbs to Vandy? Haven't seen it anywhere but this thread.

In baseball?

Serious question... With our current roster (not including any possible recruits) would any of Vandy's players crack the starting lineup if you combined the two rosters? Would any of them be in the top 6 or 7? I know nothing about Vandy's roster other than what I read in this thread so I am being serious.

If you have to think to hard on that question then the answer to the OP is a resounding NO! They will not and should not be the favorites.

Here is another question, UK has what, 5 5 Star players on the roster right now? Why would you ask about what we have coming back? Does Vandy even have a single 5 star player? UK also has experience with a Senior, juniors and Sophomores who have major experience in not one but two FF runs and one Championship game. Not to mention the fact that they have spent the last 3-4 years practicing against top notch NBA talent day in and day out.

And if you are basing your hopes and dreams of being the favorites to win the SEC on a transfer from Seton Hall then you are going to be sad all season long. Sorry. UK will be and should be the overwhelming favorites to repeat as SEC champions next season. And Just because we had a mass exodus don't for a second think that we have bare cupboards. Almost every team in the Nation would kill for our roster next year. We won't be as deep as last season (nobody ever really thought we would be anyway) but we have tremendous experience and an abundance of talent.

BTW coming here and posting a silly thread topic like you did and getting pissy when others call you out on it is bad form. Realize when you are being a troll and just own it.

Apparently not a done deal, may not end up at VU. I love WBaldwin IV, but would be nice to land a solid backup pg.

Have you seen him play?

Good read.

Well you said you didn't know but the center for Vandy (don't recall his name .. Jones??) would start for UK.

Vandy might be the favorite next year. Will be interesting to see how the coaches vote.

UK
Vandy
A&M
LSU
UGA
... In that order. I think we're fringe tournament this upcoming season. Somewhere around 20 wins again. I expect us to be really tough in '16-'17.

Vandy should be good next year, they really should. But until they show they are capable of making a serious run in the tourney, most will be skeptical, as I am . Too many blown chances to strut your stuff will do that.

Vandy is much improved this year. LSU will still be good. Texas A&M will be solid. But, Kentucky will still be the top team in the SEC.

Be the favorite? Not a chance. Be competitive for a high spot? Only if they build off of what they were doing at the end of last season.

Tony Delk picked Vandy after the FF this year on the SEC network, Darrin Horn picked UK. Vandy has a LOT returning, including a good big guy in the middle. They may not be the favorite, but they will definitely be in the top 3.

vandy could beat us next year. but what does it matter for them? they still would flame out per usual. right now i see uk at 15-3 in the sec. maybe 1-2 ooc losses with possibly unc and duke on schedule. my prediction is 29-5 before the tournament and a 2 as of right now. i see vandy winning 12 max in the sec. if they don't play well ooc and in the sect they will be on the bubble likely out. i agree with said top 8 in sec, but i'd switch uf and uscjr depending on donovan.

Vandy needs to worry about getting past the Sweet 16 before being able to say they took over Kentucky's roost at the top,LSU and TA&M will have very good teams as well,We will see

Vandy is going to be pretty good this year, which means we will get a weekly "troll for validation" from this idiot all year.

You think he would start over the #1 pick in the draft?

Damian Jones?

Probably. He's a monster and as a jr, will likely have a more developed game than an 18 year old. Unless you give pt based on draft predictions, Jones would likely start over whomever you are talking about (unless he is better than Anthony Davis was).

In years past, I would think a kid like Justice would be an immediate starter or early off the bench, but I'm not sure how much pt he'll even get as a freshman. Ahead of him are Riley LaChance and Nolan Cressler (transfer who averaged 17 ppg as a soph at Cornell). Rumor is that Cressler was the best player on the team in practice last year. So while I love Justice and his game, there is just a logjam there. Now, by the time he is a jr, I fully expect him to be a starter and stud for us.

Cam Justice has a really nice stroke, big physical body and an elite mid range game from what I could tell (granted, it was only highlights...).
This is no knock but it seems like you are putting a lot of stock in the transfers. We know, because it takes time for them to get into the new system and new conference so don't be disappointed if they stumble out of the gate and have a breaking in period.
