Yep. Played 16 mins against a weak Brown team, and went 0-5 from the field. Let's face it. if you go to the bench Brea, Almoner, Perry and Garrison are going to be called on ahead of him now.He had a hammy injury in the offseason but I haven't heard anything recently. I think Pope is just trimming his lineup and Chandler isn't ready.

This. I think we will see a significantly improved version of Chandler next season. It takes a while to build that strength back, plus adjusting to the speed of athletes in the SEC is no simple task. Long term he is a promising player.I think he’s just a typical freshman who isn’t ready for SEC play. The kid also is shaking off two years of rust from not playing.
I just hope he sticks it out with us because he has the athletic ability and tools to be a solid contributor as an upperclassman.

I don't think like Cal, and I don't know that Pope does either, but that's what "tightening up" sounds like. Cal was one big sphincter the tightness of which affected his teams in big games and in March. Tightening up is THE OPPOSITE of what this team needs to be or do. We need to continue to develop depth ALL YEAR. The more depth the better when we get to tournament play.
Yeah, Pope likes to use depth to wear teams out, especially in the first half. If you can contribute, you are going to play. I just think Chandler can't really contribute this year. Hopefully he sticks aroundI had heard he retweaked the hamstring, so they were taking it slow in his return. He may be available and just not an option if they can help it.
The notion that it's time to "tighten up the roster" doesn't make any sense.

Absolutely. It is a fast game and it will take him some time to catch upNot playing for 2 years will put you behind other players. If he stay at UK next year he will get more minutes.
So in other words. Coach Pope’s decision.I don’t know what some folks here were expecting. Did you really think we were gonna keep playing everybody for the whole season?
The reason Chandler isn’t playing is very simple: we’ve reached the point in the season, where it’s time to tighten the rotation and get serious. The games where everybody plays are done. Hell, the only reason Perry’s playing is because of Kriisa’s injury.
We’re already playing a nine man rotation. That’s a lot. It ain’t gonna get any broader, and it might get even smaller.
We have seen that happen a couple times in this era, with WCS and Richards, PJ for just the sophomore jump. It is a lot more rare nowadays though. Before the one-and-done era, one of the most exciting things about college basketball was watching our freshman make the sophomore and then even the junior leap. The development and maturation were obvious. It was almost as gratifying to watch, as fans, as it must have been for the players themselves to experience. I hope Chandler and others return and we get to see it again.
I completely agree. But, unfortunately, those days are over. The free agent mercenary mentality has taken over the sport. Before the one-and-done era, one of the most exciting things about college basketball was watching our freshman make the sophomore and then even the junior leap. Look at the box scores. Call it whatever you want, but five dudes are averaging about 30 mins/game in SEC play. Four other dudes are averaging about 10-14 mins. It isn't because of injuries.I had heard he retweaked the hamstring, so they were taking it slow in his return. He may be available and just not an option if they can help it.

No.He’s just not very wise . He’s a basketball player on a campus with thousands of coeds ……and he got engaged to a chick that lives in Utah. lol . I’m thinking Kentucky is too big a stage to “relearn” basketball “ and he’s riding out this season and will be back out west with his wife/fiancé next season. Is Collin Chandler not playing because of an injury or is it just Coach Pope’s decision?
