Dwyer (Fla.) cornerback Cedrick Dort may only be listed as a two-star prospect on Rivals.com but those close to the Kentucky program would obviously disagree with that evaluation. I've seen Dort in person just one time but was really impressed with him. Love his instincts, his quickness, ball skills, and the prototypical defensive back personality and confidence that you look for. He can get bigger but there's a lot to like about this guy.
Recently it was reported elsewhere that Dort would be taking official visits elsewhere. When I caught up with Dort after his game tonight, however, he told me that he will not be visiting other schools. At least that's the plan for right now.
"I declined the visits," Dort said.
That's obviously a big development though the only way for UK to really feel good about keeping everyone together is to continue to right the ship and show progress. It seemed like Dort was planning to take those visits prior to last weekend, so it could be that the win over South Carolina factored in to some degree. He didn't say that but easy to speculate.
Want more on Dort? Here's a pretty good resume from this season alone:
-- Has an interception returned for a touchdown in Dwyer's first game
-- Has another interception since then
-- Has not missed an attempted tackle this season
-- He has not allowed a pass completion that went for more than five yards all season
-- No touchdowns allowed
For what it's worth some of the schools that have shown interest in Dort are Miami, TCU, Rutgers and Virginia Tech, among others.
