I think everybody knew it would be a tall order to win in that building with Butler out. The lack of ball handling was noticeable. Absent Lamont Butler and with Carr questionable, not getting many minutes, it became an even tougher assignment.

For the second straight game Kentucky did not finish the first half well. Tennessee carried all the momentum into the locker room. But as against Vanderbilt, the Cats stormed back early in the second half and took a nice advantage several minutes into the game.

Amari Williams had a really nice game for Kentucky. There are times you wish he would finish with more authority but his overall impact was real. Kentucky was much better with him on the court tonight and that has frequently been the case.

Unlike the Vanderbilt game, Kentucky remained poised in the second half. To win a game like that with so little ball handling it takes a lot of poise and deliberate passing and motion on offense. Also requires you to knock down shots, and they did.

Tennessee's a good team but they will probably run into the same issues they often have in the tournament. But that's a great win for Kentucky.

Oweh was really tough tonight. UK had plenty of opportunities to end this even sooner. Have to close out possessions better. But this was an outstanding effort and Pope deserves plenty of praise. They played a lot better than they did on a couple days rest than they did coming off a week away against Vandy.
