** Hearing that four-star Cincinnati cornerback commit Cameron Calhoun visited Kentucky last weekend for the South Carolina game and is planning to return to Kentucky for the Mississippi State game this weekend. That's a pretty huge deal. Seems like he's warming up to Kentucky big-time. When things went down like they did before I didn't see UK having much of a chance, but actions are speaking loudly right now and that's definitely a situation to watch down the stretch here.

Calhoun would have to be near the top of a flip watch list.

** Kentucky probably needs to hit it out of the park this weekend with Ja'Keem Jackson. It's not like he's really weak on Florida. UK has put a lot into recruiting him and will have to leverage that relationship because he still likes the Gators.

** Kendrick Gilbert really seems to like Purdue defensive line coach Mark Hagen but he's always liked Kentucky, too. With all the talk about Jeff Brohm possibly going from Purdue to Louisville, that's another factor he may well be considering. My gut feeling right now is that UK is in good shape with both 24 QB Danny O'Neil and Gilbert. I still have a futurecast prediction in for O'Neil to be Kentucky's 2024 QB commit.

** There's some talk that Kentucky RB commit Khalifa Keith could be visiting Tennessee again this weekend for the Alabama game. I spoke with Keith this week and he said he's still solid with Kentucky. He didn't close the door on considering other options and if he's taking visits that would mean the considering is already taking place. As I've said, it will be interesting to see how the running back class shakes out.

** Hearing that Kentucky is checking on 3-star 2024 in-state OL Hayes Johnson today. I have a FutureCast in for Kentucky. He will be a four star candidate eventually. Baylor, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, and Tennessee have all offered.

** Huge recruiting weekend begins today with the arrival of Notre Dame defensive line transfer candidate Jacob Lacey. Vince Marrow is going to be with him for a lot of that visit. Kentucky is the first school to have the chance to host him for a visit since he went into the portal if that tells you where his head is at. He's had Texas, Oklahoma, USC and a bunch of others reaching out and trying to get involved. Could be one of the better defensive line options to come through the portal this year so that would be a big upgrade. I can't log FutureCasts for transfers but I'd have one in for Lacey. When he went into the portal I heard it wouldn't be a deal where it lasts for a very long time, i.e. until the offseason. So I'd watch this. Not saying this weekend is the timetable for I feel good about it as far as where UK stands.

Fixing the offensive line is the short and long term priority. I would expect a guy or two from the portal but we saw last year that it's easier said than done to upgrade the team via the portal on the line. Those guys are in high demand. What I'll say is this, if you want some hope for the line. Cox is playing well lately. Burton, there is some real optimism about his future and playing him now is probably a good investment when it comes to future play. Horsey will have the option of coming back for another year and I think that's something he will very strongly consider.
