Injuries are why we lost to Arkansas

For my part I’m still way more surprised at the Tennessee win than the Arkansas loss. My expectation for how this team plays with no Butler and no backup PG is a lot closer to what we saw against Arkansas. I would think we are a pretty bad team in that scenario.

Nevertheless, I’m hopeful we can find a solution to really make the offense sing without an PG and score 90+ tonight. But I’m the optimistic sort.

Don’t you guys get it. We were severely undermanned. The guys that we had on the court gave it their best.

A healthy team and we blow them out. Time to move on and get healthy for our Final Four run.
True, its really hard to blow people out when you dont have a point guard. None, are you getting it, none of our players played for UK ever. When this team was put together many on here started the doom and gloom. Popes success is on Pope. Injuries to twp point guards is hard to overcome so lets just shut up

Always an excuse. We aren’t going to get healthier at this point. These guys have injuries that probably require surgery. I say these guys bc you can add Carr and maybe another in there.

Yep, we’re sloppy with the ball and our free throw shooting is erratic, drives me crazy but we average 10 turnovers a game and I would hate to rely on free throws to win a game.

We are not a good defensive team and when our best defender is out that makes a difference. Carr is a decent defender, he tried and he couldn’t go, his alternate is not as dood. We don’t have a healthy point guard and we have to fill that position with a freshman that’s not ready yet. I think injuries are hurting us a lot.
Missing free throws is leaving points on the floor. We had 14 turnovers, we average 10. That is 4 LESS possessions for UK and 4 MORE possessions for Arkansas. Missed 9 FT's, say we hit 75% instead of 50% (not even going to use 100% to hit them all, nobody is perfect), that is 5 points left on the floor. Take those 5 points and 4 more possessions for UK and 4 less for Arkansas, the outcome is different. Numbers don't lie, say we only convert half of those 4 possessions we lost, that is 4 points. Same for Arkansas, they convert half of the 4, 4 less points.

4 more points for UK, 4 less for Arkansas, and hit 75% of the 19 free throws (5 more points), that is 9 more points for UK, 4 less for Arkansas. Analytics my man, analytics. You have to value EVERY possession and grab EVERY point you can. Missing 9 free throws on 18 attempts is just asking for trouble. 50% from the line will NOT win many close games.

if we win tonight are we allowed to say “Great win especially considering all of our injuries” or is that some forbidden inverse of making excuses?
