Couple stories one on SI I’ve read today saying Jon Gruden is a serious candidate for their opening. Why would anyone want that job and if he does KY’s faculties and program are light years ahead of them. If they can possibly land Gruden then KY should have a nice list of candidates.

He will get name recognition, but I'm not sure it would pay off on the field. But I guess if you're Indiana football, you take a chance and see what happens.

In the 10 years after the Super Bowl, he did the following:

2 playoff appearances
0 playoff wins
67-82 record

I wouldn't necessarily hold someone's NFL record against them as an indicator that they would fail at the CFB level. I believe Saban was 2 games above .500 in 8 years, and Spurrier was 12-20 in 2 years. Having said that, unless Gruden is either desperate for money, or attention, I can't see him showing any real interest in the Indiana job. Of course, he does seem to love attention, so if his name is tossed around, I don't see him doing anything to dispel any rumors.

Spurrier and Saban were both proven college coaches who struggled in the NFL and came back to college and succeeded again. Gruden is unproven as a college coach and most NFL coaches who try their hand at P5 college football have a tough adjustment, same as the other way around.

A coach at IU just doesn't have anything to sell the top recruits. It' the same old Big Ten dominated by Ohio State and Michigan.

Let's not forget Penn State, USC, Oregon and Washington in the B10 going forward. IU will be very fortunate to win 2-3 games a year in the conference unless they always play IL, NW, Purdue, Rutgers, MD.

I don't know who their coach will be but whoever it is has his work cut out for him. I've been following guys entering the portal and it looks like half their team is leaving, and I'm not even joking.

Gruden would fail anywhere in college. Too traditional NFL. Ever hear him talk about RPO? You gotta be a little wacky to succeed in NCAA and he ain't that.

If you're Indiana, you try to catch lightning in a bottle. Some SunBelt or high school coach that just needs a shot.

Whether you agree with the method in which the emails were revealed, he said what he said and he’s beyond toxic. Less than .1% of black families would send their kid to play for him. That’s a problem in a sport that’s 80% black.

Then plenty of white families wouldn’t either. So now you’ve narrowed it to just racist families and players. Come to think of it, that might work for Indiana…

What about that Michigan OC who's turned that offense into a juggernaut and won as interim while Harbaugh has been out?

Seems like that guy should be a name rising up the carousel call lists.

People forget that S Moore was in trouble earlier in the season at Michigan.

He may be holding out hope he gets hired to replace Harbaugh when he bolts to the NFL.

I just can't believe the stupidity of not waiting until Dec 1st to fire Allen. Frkn hilarious

Moore is Michigan head coach in waiting (unannounced). He ain't even letting his agent answer a phone call from a bottom dweller like IU.

Yeah never really understood the obsession with him as a head coach. Despite a handful of seasons he’s been below average at best. 122-116 isn’t exactly getting him into any hall of games at any level.

Gruden doesn't need RPO! He has Spider 2 Y-Banana!

I don't disagree, but the point was, just because someone isn't successful at the NFL level doesn't mean they wouldn't succeed at the CFB level. But I don't think it matters; I don't think JG really wants to coach in college.

I’d love for IU to make strides. I’m empathetic regarding their die hard football fans. Memorial Stadium had an awesome facelift recently. I root for them in B10 games especially against the “biggies”.

Chucky at Indiana?

Let them spend away on the highest price coach they can get. Won’t affect us and less money for their basketball program.

Yeah right. And the delusional basketball fans thought Brad Stevens was coming to Bloomington, too.

IU sucks.

I could see Gruden being a good CFB coach. With his name he should be able to recruit pretty decent (at least you would think so) and probably could attract a decent staff.

IU is like the Vanderbilt of the Big 10. One could argue Northwestern or Rutgers maybe, but when it comes to football, IU is like the Charlie in the Box on the island of misfit toys.

I'd say they are pretty much like Pre Stoops UK. A mostly dismal football history like ours. Even if they do get good...will they be able to compete with OSU and Michigan on a yearly basis? Kind of like UK dealing with UGA and others.
